Ban

What usergroups do they have permissions to ban members?
In fmSupport, all moderators have permissions to ban members. It is safer for my members.

To ban the members, some statistics must be mentioned. We just can't rely on any moderator or one person. The parameters should be fixed and mentioned in the forum guide lines from well before so that the people should read it and if possible not do that. And I think one specific thread should be opened by admin in the front page in which this info must be given.

Currently my forum does not have any moderator.

I handle all moderator and administrative tasks.

Once I hire moderators, I may let them ban users.

If you have many moderators, you can assign the ban roles to only Super moderators. Else, you can assign ban roles to moderators if you know them well.

For me only admins and moderator team leaders can place permanent bans. Other super moderators can ban for up to a month.

In my forum PromoBB (currently closed), we allowed the management team, community moderators and team leaders to ban users. These are all staff members I trust to make the correct judgement and if they are unsure they can simply ask the help of a manager.

At this time, if memory serves me right, I believe we only allow admins to ban. Although I'm thinking of extending this privlege to mods as well.

On my forum, global moderators and administrators can ban. I only have an administrator (myself) and a global moderator currently, though. ;)

On my forums, I allow the mods to ban which takes a lot of stress from you if you are busy with the technical side of your forum. The worst which can happen is they perm ban someone by mistake and you simply unban them and talk to your moderator and if they abused, ban them.

The only groups with the ability to ban people are moderator and up on my forum although i try to encourage not permanently banning someone.

On my forum Moderators can make a temporary ban, and must then make a ban review topic in the staff forum to determine if further action needs to be taken by an admin.
