Tumblr

Postby DreekLass » 05 Jul 2016, 02:56

I never seem to hear much about Tumblr, or people tapping the source of traffic that Tumblr can provide when it comes to getting referrals, or earning money online, yet from my own experiences with Tumblr, I know that it is rich with students wanting to earn money on the side. Not only that but it appears to be separated into fandoms that you can target according to their interest.

Does anybody use Tumblr for these purposes?

I have read about tumblr, another blogging platform, not interested. To me it is another time wasting platform, but some people have used it effectively so it depends upon the person and the goal you're trying to achieve. Mostly it can be used effectively for niche marketing I guess. But I ain't diving into it...

I have seen Tumblr being as popular as Pinterest and both got my attention first when I saw them as sharing button option. Despite all this, I have never bothered to look into Tumblr or Pinterest as it just never struck me to have earning potential.

I have seen Tumbir, listing in different web pages. But I have never used it for promoting my articles. But I would definitely try and experience it someday.

I haven't yet, but my daughter keeps telling me to try Tumblr. I guess it's a good source for attracting the younger demographics, or so it seems. I don't just want to "spam" it though, and I don't really have time right now to actually interact much before trying to use it for promotion. I feel I'd need to spend some time there.

I've been using Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest as part of an experiment
My goal is to have an affiliate website generating income without any kind of SEO (except for on-page and interlinking). The traffic should be 100% social. I chose amazon affiliate program for monetization as they pay really well and people trust them a lot when it comes to shopping online.

I'm using a custom software for social management and account creation, except for Facebook accounts which I'm buying aged ones as facebook usually bans new accounts promoting stuff pretty quickly. I'm currently sitting at 32 accounts (8 for each social network). The accounts are growing pretty nice and slow because I don't want to get flagged and banned, eventually.

It's been 2 months now and traffic is growing everyday. Yesterday I had 600 visits and two sales: +9$ 8-).

Tumblr plays a huge part on my traffic, 38% of my traffic comes from it, which is pretty nice.

I wouldn't say it is used MOSTLY by students. But there are a lot of students who do use it. And that is why you make detailed posts, and tag them with words like student, or money.

I am aware of Tumblr, and have tried it two times so far. It is not working out for me at all, and ended up wasting lot of time. I just can't figure out how it is useful, as it is just another blogging platform.

I know a student who uses Tumblr to sell her photographs/pictures and I am inviting her to work on Rabadaba because it is a two way goal, you get to sell your picture and you get to earn points by posting picture and redabbing, upvote, favorite some other's picture. What I know is the Tumblr is a great avenue to share your link because it is a social sites too, but I never thought you can earn from it.

I think the way you earn from there is by posting your business information on the page. I don't think they have a program where you get paid directly from them

Well, it's pretty simple:

1 - Create an account;

2 - Set up a nice avatar/cover related to your niche. It has to catch people's eyes since this will be an invitation to your blog, mainly when people use the search feature on tumblr;

3 - Set up some posts into tumblr schedule feature (I use a custom bot for that but you can do it manually. It shouldn't take more than 2 hours to set up enough content for a week or so).
You want to set your tumblr to post at least 6 times a day: just avoid posting after midnight until 8 a.m. (server time) because traffic falls 80% during this time period.
Posts need to have your website's URL. Use an URL shortener if you are into affiliate marketing.
Remember to put as many tags related to your niche as you can, this will help you get more tumblr search traffic to your blog;

4 - Now the twist: you will follow 100 blogs related to your niche everyday. After you do it, wait until the next day and if they haven't followed you back yet, unfollow them. After a few weeks you will have people sharing your posts and commenting your content;

5 - You will start getting traffic from tumblr search, other people's followers - since they are now sharing your content - and even from Google Images as several of your posts will start ranking there as well. Keep scheduling posts every week and don't let your blog run out of those because the most important thing on tumblr is to be active! This way, your tumblr will grow and you will have a lot of FREE social traffic to your website;

6 - Rinse and repeat;

7 - Profit! :$: :$: :$:

Also, remember tumblr is all about visual media. Images and videos do pretty well but gifs are the best way to generate traffic from my experience. Use less text but write things that are significant to people in your niche.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,
Wal

I didn't understand of the post, but I understood that someone else was managing to make tumblr work for them as far as earning online, which you have to respect. But as far as social media networking sites go, Tumblr is one of the easiest to get followers and leads.

Given that Tumblr is not popular in my country, I have never used it.
I guess it'd be difficult to use virtual friends to earn, so I've given Tumblr a wide berth.

I don't think it'd be that difficult to get those virtual friends to earn for you. They are real people who need real money, and many of them have no other means to make it other than online. They might as well be working for you lol.
