Do you use black hat SEO?

Postby wasi90lk » 04 Sep 2013, 17:32

I do not use these techniques because I feel these are not worthwhile.

You could have gotten away with black hat techniques a few years ago, but not now.

With latest updates from Google, we all must use white hat techniques.

No, I don't use black hat SEO techniques, but I sometimes use gray hat. It's very easy to get much traffic, but the matter is that if you use black hat, you will probably get more spammers.

I don't think Black Hat SEO is good. I have seen lots of negative comments on it. There is quite risky using this method and also Google can penalize your site. Normal SEO is more than enough. Expecting much can end up badly.

For one website I purchased a bunch of links. It effectively killed my Google ranking. After that I recognised there is little point t black hat seo. Eventually Google will catch you.

Black hat SEO is basically when someone tries to use unapproved methods to gain a false ranking in the search engines. When I say "unapproved methods" I mean tactics that are against the webmaster guidelines provided by the search engines.

Examples of black hat SEO techniques include the following;

  • Including hidden text on your web pages, i.e. text that is the same colour as the page background. Search engines will see that text but visitors won't.
  • Buying text links on other sites, that point back to your site.

There are lots of other black hat techniques, I just give the couple above to give you an idea of how people try to cheat the search engines. The search engines disapprove of black hat methods, because they want their search engine results to be as helpful as possible to their users. Those results will be less useful, if they include listings for spammy sites.

Huh?
Buying text links on other sites, that point back to your site.

This is also Black Hat SEO? Hmm, I thought of doing it but lucky that I have not did it yet.

Yes jacktheking, buying text links is considered as black hat. The search engines, especially Google, place great emphasis on the quality and quantity of links pointing to a site, when they are ranking that site. The reason for this, is that they view those links as a vote of confidence in the site. In order for this to be effective they only want to consider natural links, when someone adds a link to a site because they are paid for that link, it is not a real vote of confidence in the site. Hence Google, may penalise the sites who sell the links and the sites that buy them.

I'm wondering the same thing. Or does this fall under White Hat SEO. Other than that, I don't use Black Hat SEO. That's the last thing I need is for my site to get penalized by Google or any other search engine. I'll earn my rankings the honest way.

Black Hat SEO is definitely not a recommended option. You could lose ALL your investment is search engines start banning you. Then, you risk putting yourself into blacklists from other sites. Finally, it's also a legal grey area, where you could find yourself in a lawsuit. Good idea? Not at all.
