Postby sushme » 22 Feb 2019, 03:19

I am willing to migrate my blog from Blogger to WordPress. Do you think it would provide me any advantage so what do you suggest about it?

Though I also want Blogger and in fact, I have my other blog hosted on Blogger, we also want some customization of our site that we could fully implement using self-hostedWordpress. With WordPress, we can make use of the different plugins and there are thousands of free themes to choose from.

The greatest advantage of a Self-Hosted WordPress site is it eliminates the restrictions Blogger puts on attempts by their bloggers to earn money with referral links and often terminates their blog without notice.

This. Plus, it just gives you so much more options in terms of plugins and themes that you won't get with Blogger. Whatever you want, you can get it for your blog with a WP plugin.

If you are migrating to self hosted wordpress, it will surely benefit you as you will have fill control over your site and u can monetize your site through network ads or affiliate ads.

I think when you use Blogger, you have the added advantage of Google's robust secure platform, so you don't have to worry about managing your server's resources, securing your blog, or creating backups. WordPress is also quite secure, but since it is a self hosted solution you are responsible for security and backups. The advantage of Wordpress, I guess is that it gives you so much more options in terms of plugins and themes, and is more suited to monetizing your website.

And one of those plugins should be for backup

I actually haven't tried Blogger before. But, I know about it. I just tried joining WordPress, and I'm learning about it everyday.

If you are migrating to free wordpress, there is no point in migrating to wordpress from blogger. On blogger you can at least use adsense, however, on free wordpress you cannot use network ads.

That's very true. Monetizing on free wrdpress is not possible, therefore, if you are migrating to free wordpress, it will not benefit you. However, if you ar emigrating to self hosted wordpress, the migration might help you with revenue generation.

Great help coming from all of you. Yes I have plans to go for self hosted WordPress plan. It makes no sense to me going from one free plan to another.

Yes, please let it be known that WordPress.com and WordPress.org is two different things. If you are planning to move your content to self-hosted WordPress, you need to decide which hosting partner you need to use.

Are you migrating from blogger free to wordpress free or to wordpress self hosted? If self hosted, yes, many advantages including organic traffic since you are able to customize it all as opposed to using blogger free.

Yes, it would be a good idea to migrate from blogger to wordpress. Blogger is good but it comes with very limited functions when it comes to managing your blog pages. Whereas, WordPress is a powerful platform specially the self hosted WordPress.org, which offers great features, gives thousands of themes and plugins, and provides full control over everything. It lets you grow your website the way you want to and you also get an amazing support from the WordPress community whenever you run into problems.

Both platforms are good. I have only used the free versions. Between the two, I would have to say Wordpress is the better platform. Even though my WP blogs were deleted twice. I'm not bitter. I was a newbie blogger just learning and publishing a blog with Wordpress gave me really good blogging experience. I learned what I was NOT supposed to do.

Blogger is a platform that Google bought and they have put no effort into upgrading or improving it. It is what it is. It's a free platform. Use it or don't use it. There are lots of nice blogs which are on the Blospot platform. But there are much nicer blogs using the Wordpress platform. It's my opinionated observation.

I think a better option is to stay with Blogger and map a custom domain with your bloogger blog. By doing this you will have a website with your own domain and not a subdomain.

If you are going to use a free blogging platform and if you have a Google Ad Sense account, then stick with Blogger. If you are not going to monetize your blog, then pick the platform that the easiest to use and that connects you with more bloggers. Wordpress is better for that than Blogspot.

You are right, if your primary concern is to make money, you should stay with blogger because you can use amazon ads as well as adsense.

WordPress is very easy an simple to customize. Best of all, almost all tools, I mean plugins are free of charge. You can build up a site and target it the way yo need.
