So, I've been promoting my Forum all month, it is a fairly new Forum, but I can't seem to attract people to join.
I am promoting on Twitter, Reddit, HackForums, and Here... One person has joined so far but didn't stay.

This forum may not get you traffic for your genre. You may have to try out social media groups like facebook groups or the reddit groups for this. Because book readers subreddits and facebook groups are more which suits your use case.

You can try using Quora to invite people to your forum. First, you have to add your forum link in your profile, then you need to answer questions related to your forum, interested people will visit your profile and then surely go to your forum. Do remember, whatever traffic generating method you use, it will take time to see some good results. Good luck!

There are no tags in Forumcoin and I had been suggesting it because it was working for the online magazine Popgeeks. Before tags, the articles there are not getting comments. Now its getting comments.

I really like the idea behind your forum and the domain name is great I've already registered. I hope it goes very well for you. My suggestion would be to focus more on the forum itself at this time, before you focus on promotion. There is limited content in each of your forum sections, hence when visitors first arrive at your site, there isn't much there for them to read or discuss. My suggestion would be to reduce your forum sections, merge some of the topic areas together, that way each individual forum section will have more posts. You can separate them out again, when the forum grows and has more posts.

You could also try to encourage more posting on your forums, by doing things such as posting contests to get you started. Or perhaps you have a couple of contacts that will join you in making some initial posts to "seed" the forum.

It's a personal view, but I do find the colour scheme of your site to be a little off putting. I'd be interested to hear what other members think of it. If the site looks more appealing and looks to have more content - more of your first time visitors will be encouraged to join and start posting.

Sorry if any of the above sounds harsh, it's not meant to be, I just feel that your promotion will be much more effective if you do a little work on your forum first.

Most people can tolerate the three following color scheme: Night, Pastel and White. I dont mind red, What I cannot stand is Neon! Neon is a health risk to people with seizure risk and they are painful to the eyes.

You need to still advertise your forum on social media and use hashtags that will make your forum to be visible on search engine. This way you would be sure of getting traffic from Google and other search engine.

There are non paying forums that still manages to get new members. You just need to make an illusion your forum is active first.

Yeah to get more traffic you need to be active on the forum as the admin. You need to be consistent to lure more people to the forum. The watchword is consistency.

I will give sine input, I haven't been to your forum yet. Il comment on getting traffic to your site. I suggest you get involved in a lot of forums and get your site known. Whatever you do, dont buy traffic, it would work sideways for you, you need traffic that will actually be active and help.your forum grow. Also, make sure you are always active in your forum, it gives your forum life. One other tip, aim for forums with a lot of traffic, it means a spending a little to get your ad seen then do it.. I recently learned that competitions in forums actually get a lot of traffic. Once one person gets a payout your traffic will increase. Goodluck.

It might not just be about the tags though it brings visibility but the content helps a lot too. For the people to comment means it is a valuable content.

The domain name of your forum and the subject dealt with should be appealing to the people. Then only they may join.
