Should blog owners edit comments?

Postby thisnthat » 18 Sep 2015, 17:34

I'll give an example: I posted a comment on a blog, and the moderator edited it, which of course is their prerogative. The problem is that now the post sounds completely stupid, nothing like what I would write. I'd rather they had simply deleted it than have a dumb sounding comment with my name on it.

They edited it for SEO purposes, not because I had done anything wrong.

I guess they will not revise it anymore because the words they put in there are targeted. I understand your point of view much as I understand theirs.Did you try to make an appeal? I suppose you did not use your real name and photo.

really, it's criminal edit third-party word.
and a lot of times others understand the misconceptions of what we spend.
embarrassing that it should be some way to put out the original post, right?

No, I'm sorry but that sounds totally out of order! I know I just wouldn't be happy with that AT ALL. Chances are you'll probably have lost some nuances somewhere in the tweaking of your post, too. I too would prefer to have the post deleted altogether over having the life sucked out of it.

i would be the first to stay yes they should but editing a comment for personal gain is completely unacceptable. However, a blog owner or admin may edit a comment for grammar corrections or other simple mistakes without compromising the message of the writer.

this is not good if someone's comment is edited and made them bad comment. however admin can edit it if it is spamming and other related reasons not for SEO and I will never do it if in my blogs it happens

I do not find any particular reason for doing that but in cases when Reader has submitted a good opinion but has given some links or trying to get traffic on their website.. In that cases I do delete link by editing it

I don't know. As someone who once had a PPD blog, I had to edit out and disable comments from people who were alerting future visitors to the fact that they were going to have to complete a task before they were going to be able to unlock the file that they wanted.

I have a blog and I had never edited a comment maybe because all the comments are positive. But if there is a negative comment, still I wouldn't edit it for the sake of integrity. Editing a comment is a disrespect for the opinion of your readers.

What the...? Someone edited your post? What the hell happened to freedom of expression?
I'm all for deleting posts that break the rules, like insulting, sharing illegal stuff an so on. But deleting post fragments for their own benefit is just ridiculous...

It would be more correct, as you said, if they deleted the whole post.

ive had comments on my blog before but nothing I ever deleted they even gave a link to their blog which I left on it because their comment was so positive. some comments are spam why would you post a random comment about buying shoes on a blog. I never know what people are thinking. you should contact the owner for a explanation

The problem is they have the master key with them. So they can do anything they like. This is one unavoidable and bad situation online. And every site owner thinks that they are the saviors of internet.

The blog administrator has every right to control commentary, however, it is half meaningless it just edit someone else's comment. Correct would be to delete it entirely or leave it there.

However, if the comments are positive, or good for the purpose of the blog, then I will approve them. I never have left my comments open though.

That is so wrong. I have a blog and I have never edited any comment ever. I accept the positive and negative comments. Everyone has the right to say their opinion. I think that it is so wrong what happened to you.

That is very rude indeed especially if it doesn't say what you intended. Is it possible to contact the moderator and tell them you aren't happy with what they have written? What if they do it again?

For SEO purpose i think the site owner should edit their comments, as they want that their blog perform the best. I don't think this would be wrong to edit.

Editing comments is blog owner rights because sometimes many scam or negative or more more bad comments about blog coming sometimes may be from hatters so removing editing is must
