I have bought one or two free .to domain about 2 years ago but I remember that this site have different name like dot.tk site. Now I have found they have changed there name and also they have extended list of free domains.

The only place where I refuse to get a domain is of course freenom. Purchasing a domain is free, renewing the domain is free and no advertistment included. So where is the catch?

The first time I checked Freenom and its slow website was 1-3years ago, I tryed to purchase my first .ga domain there. For some reason, it was not working and I had to contact them. 4months later they replied me and registered+verified the account for me. I was happy at that time, the domains there are free and they are working hard to keep them alive - that is what I though. I tested it on my website but it was very slow. I contacted them again and they said that the hosting service has slow servers or the website had bad scripts. I was running with the hosting plan 4more websites and they all were fine + my .ga website had only a .html file with ~10lines to display "Test".

And now the shocking part: 3months later I wasn't the owner of the domain anymore and someone had already a website with unique logo using my domain. Note that I used it to redirrect it to another website using their redirrecting system because I want a fast running one. It had 0-20hits/week. Their response, which toke them long, was "You have not used your domain for 6months". I have not registered the domain 6months ago to start with and they stole and sold my domain to a stranger.

Free domains have less potential to be shown in search results. I have aslo owned several of that type of free domains but i don't find them usefull to try.

These free domains are quite great, and i have experiance with dot.tk Domain, I used it on my blogspot, And Actully they are best if you can't Invest in domain. They are free (yeah you have to renew each 12th month but its for free),

Try to get .com .net .org ... I advise you don't use free domains also it will pay its future go to select the domain of paid, it is not at a high price over time, when it becomes your situation best buy a host this is the second my advice to you

Freenon or dot tk is nolonger registering free domain names. Even those which are up and running have been recalled and if you want to re-own, you are asked to pay. But why pay for that ML or TK thing?

I hear that freedom domains were sued by big companies for spamming, I do not know how true this is
