Maybe a mix of both so you get the best of both worlds. But I think it would also depend on your niche.

I have to agree with most people here stating that the length of the article does not affect the number of people viewing that article, but I do think that most people are attracted to short or medium sized articles, an article being too long may get readers uninterested and your blog may lose traffic.

I think longer articles are good if you want search engines to see you since you will have more words. But this will hurt your readership or viewership since a lot of people will get easily bored in reading long articles.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the fact that longer articles would get a higher rank in search engine queries, but yeah your second point does make sense too.

I don't really know the exact numbers of words to an article. But for me if there is a sense in the write ups or in the articles then it is a big okay. What can you get from an article who is long but with no sense. There can be redundant use of words or even on the informations. I would go for a shorter article with a full blown information. The content is more important.

I guess I'll just have to carry on as I am because I post both long and short articles on my blog. As an avid reader, I absolutely HATE long articles and NEVER read them. I might open it and home in on the specific bit I want and not bother to read the rest. I'm all about quality not quantity.

Yes, I agree with you. Even I prefer short to medium articles which are not more than 400-500 words, and which are concise and informative, without beating around the bush.

Long articles up to 1000 words are pretty long winded and pissed me off with the non related information.
I rather read articles with short and sweet informations, straight to the essential key factors.

Yes, I agree with you - a researcher or for some entrepreneur who is starting a new project, will surely go for articles which give in-depth information on the subject, so here the size and length is immaterial as long as it is exhaustive and provides all the relevant information.

I don't think that guarantees that you would get traffic to your website, but it's advisable to write longer and meaningful articles so when visitors come to your site they would have a reason to come back again.

Yeah, the content should be something intresting that people will love reading. I also believe that short and straight to the point articles are the best.

It depends on the context. You have health or the homeopathy or similar type of health blog and need to explain your view in 1000 words or more. Then I guess longer article helps.

I think having more words in an article ensures more traffic. let say, your article is 500 words, the recommended keyword usage is 5 percent and in 500 words article you will be using only 25 keywords. However, in 1000 words, you will be using 50 keywords. Having more keywords means your same article will be ranked for different keywords. Which improves ranking and traffic.
