Lol. Yes, if people who are pretending to be someone other than who they are, are using Google voice numbers to pretend they are in a different geographical locations in order to catfish people can use Google numbers at, then having one to allow people to contact you is not a bad idea at all.

I don't pretend to be anyone else, I just want a good voice mail 24/7 and Google Voice is hard to beat. I worked hard for years to reach the point I don't need to be online all day, but I don't want to miss opportunities either.

I try to be as "reachable" as I can so I make sure to check my emails, comments section and Skype in case a client or somebody left a message for me. I think in this "industry", it is important to answer within 24 hours. Otherwise, people can quickly lose interest (especially freelance clients).

I just use my email. I have one email for work, and most of my other emails are for other uses. But I am always reachable through this email address. Sometimes though, there is not much space on my smartphone so emails won't come through, so I have to make sure that it has enough space.
