Re: Do You Leave Comment on Old Posts?

Postby nonersays » 06 Jul 2016, 15:36

If a post is interesting or useful, it is never "too old." Adding a comment to it will bump it up to the new posts where someone else might see it, find interest and leave their own comments therefore having revived it.

Having said that, I very rarely go back 2 or 3 years looking for something. If nothing of interest has been said recently enough that I don't have to hunt for it, then I just leave the page and come back later where there will hopefully be something more interesting to read and comment on.

It's not your fault actually. If you happen to necrobump a thread, don't worry. Mods cannot ban or warn you for that. If you were not supposed to comment, they should just close the thread.

I don't see why shouldn't you comment on an old post old is a relative term. What may be old to you may actually be new to a newbie. So I comment where I think its appropriate.

I agree with you. If a post is still relevant, then it should get bumped as posters see fit. And you could just be coming across the information, and want to ask a question about it. But then some will tell you just to start a new thread about it.

It could be an old post, but if I have just found it, it is new to me. I would read it to gain more knowledge. If my comment would add to the discussion I would leave a comment.

If a post interests me it doesn't matter to me whether it was written today or before the introduction of the internet I will leave a comment if I see the need. I am less concern about the time but what information the post is giving to me.

I still comment on old posts if I find the posts are interesting or informative and still relevant for others to read nowadays. I think it's good to revive those old posts, especially those good ones.

No need to leave the page or dig through the archives. You can always start new threads on your topics of interest too. I prefer a fresh thread sometimes, especially if there are a lot of pages of just "stuff" in the thread that really doesn't contribute much.

I thought at first that when it is in line with the thread, I thought it was new and I can't remember at all the title so I will click it and read it. I only leave a comment if there is a thought that I can be sharing but when it isn't, i leave it there. Sometimes those who leave comment only wants the thread to come up again because they are really interested on the topic.

That is one of the things I like about FC. You are not restricted in which discussions you can participate in :) Old posts usually have very useful information in them, and if you can add to that it is a bonus.

I do think the ones that are filled with useful information are still relevant. The best part on here is that people continuously add different experiences regarding sites that we might be interested in. People will add any changes to the site, the pay, the rules, etc. It's helpful.

Very true. There are not that many members on here, but the members that do post are awash with information about online earning and work thankfully. I have years of experience, and other have to, to where those that post on here can offer me tips on things that I might not have necessarily known :)

Yes I do sometimes. I usually go through the newest posts first and then if I get stumped and can't find anything current I am able to post on I will look through the older topics. It's surprising what you can find in the archives!

A lot of the time the newer posts are lacking in the information that they will eventually accumulate with more time, so I usually head on back to the archives first.

If an old post has an interesting ingredient, I won't hesitate to post a comment.
This comment would revive an interesting discussion that has waned.

I know in time, those old posts will still be active as long as the information changes from time to time. There are people loves to update topics of thread, it depends on what they know. If they update it, I would be truly grateful. It means they are sharing accurate and good information.

Some people like that fast-paced feel of new activity and new threads, whilst other people come to a forum looking for an answer to something from a google search. It really depends upon what the poster's motive for being there is.
