The point is, they need to factor in a little cushion for running the risk of not making money from it.

Right, I get that, but if they want professionally crafted content then they need to be prepared to pay a decent amount for it. They can buy cheap content all day if they want to only spend pennies.

That's why most of them take the lowest bidder and go with 3rd world writers that are desperate for money and more than willing to push real writers into the gutter if they can undercut them.

What's that saying.. racing for the bottom? That's how it feels these days. Too many people are willing to write for peanuts, which makes buyers think that everyone should. It seems like the less they pay, the more demanding they get as well.

Sigh.

The simple solution to that problem is to write for YOURSELF

If you are good enough that someone else is willing to pay for your talent, it should be obvious that they are doing it so they can profit from your work. So why not use that work the same way they would and keep that profit for yourself? Even better, put yourself in their shoes and get others to write for you, then make a profit from their work added to yours.

The above post by @oldbuddy is a good piece of advice though the competition is tough and patience should be your middle name. Currently I am writing for someone for 3$ an article of 400 words!

I know what you guys are thinking but he has a low budget and I thought I will just help.

Before when I was still writing for Odesk which is now Upwork, I had done guest posting for one of my client who had an account in Webmasters. I can open his account in this site every time I want and do some postings. But I forgot already how much he is paying me. It was years way back then and I am not active anymore at Odesk. I am concentrating now posting in forums.

For me I am just Ghost writing at the moment. I had promised a member here on guest writing for his blog but can't find time from my busy 7am to 3am wakeful hours!

That is good advice (although I wouldn't necessarily call it "simple," since there are a lot of variables). Even so, it makes more sense to make money for yourself instead of making more money for others. Time is the biggest issue for me. It's just quicker to write for someone else than it is to put in all the time required to have an excellent blog... I must make more time.

Yeah, it is "the simplest" route to write for yourself but to earn anything from it is not that simple. I mean, not everybody is lucky to be able to come up with a viral article overnight and have millions of followers in an instant, right?

It doesn't take a viral article to make money, it just takes a series of interesting articles people want to read and will come back for more. If all of them had to be viral, there would not be many sold.
