What is the last short video in trending? None! It's always long videos. Youtube algorithm doesn't care about short videos unless its a music video of a mainstream singer. It is the case, I know what I am saying since I had been studying the algorithm for a long time. My short videos are not getting views. My longer ones gets views.

fergus1234 wrote:Rebecca's recipe videos are shorter while Sros are longer. Youtube favors Sros more because they can put more ads on her channel. Youtube will actually help your channel to get more viral if they are longer.

Sros makes her video longer by adding the washing of ingredients as part of her videos. Rebecca actually have more entertaining videos but Sros is more attractive to advertisers because her videos are longer.

That exactly is the point - longer videos can accommodate more advertisement, and more advertisement means more revenue from a particular video. As per what I have read on net relating to this topic, the change is partially due to what viewers are interested in, but it also represents creators’ latest attempt to earn as much revenue as they can from their videos. Which of these two factors is more applicable to their decision of favouring longer videos?

Oh, such a sad state. Youtube wants to deplete the most valuable resource of the user, time. They want their users to stay longer in their website. But some Youtubers favour lengthier video because they can discuss more stuffs relevant to their main content and to make their point more plausible to their viewers.

recently though I see top youtubers adding useless fillers to make their video longer. I mean washing veggies and utensils should not be a part of a recipe video

How long do they want the videos?
on match on mobile legends is over 20 to 40 mins.
I think that is long enough. But right now I am working more on building
up my twitch.

10 to 20 minutes is the usual. You have to be a daily uploader too.

Re: Youtube favors longer videos over shorter videos

I went through a phase where I used to watch alot of videos on Youtube but there was two reasons I went back to only watching a small amount and only watching the video I want to watch rather than actually seeking out other videos and making a 2 hour session of just watching random videos.

Reason 1 was the length of videos and like mentioned above the amount of useless filling. I found myself constantly jumping forward every 30 seconds because there would some random/unrelated discussion or just showing random scenes like showing a dog running in the garden for 30 seconds in a product review of a tv for example.

Reason 2 is the click bait titles that make a video sound interesting when actually you find out it was only 15 seconds of a 11 minute video and even that was nowhere near as extreme as suggested. This also connects to problem one as it takes so much time to realize that the video is rubbish and the title was massively overly exaggerated.

Basically I just use YouTube for music videos, videos people tell me about or mention/recommend and reviews for products that I am going to buy but then it is only 1 or 2 max.

In a day and age where peoples attention span is so short (and many sites take advantage of that), youtube is doing the opposite of what they should be doing to match what users actually want.

That's sad and annoying. But the viewers can skip it. Plus, some changes in youtube sucks and the only thing we can do is get used to it.

Well that's a given. They can stick more adverts in longer videos and earn more revenue.

I think the longer will be favoured , because most time's ads are been placed on those videos and people might pay little attention to the ads if the video is longer

Susan the CEO is the Greedy gremlin who started all the chaos on Youtube. I hate her with all my heart.

Susan if you are reading this, Your sister is still a better CEO than you and she is a Billionaire while you are not. I bet your parent's favorite is not you.

I find it interesting that where content is concerned we're encouraged to post longer articles and videos yet most viewers and readers prefer them shorter. I'm one of the people who can't be bothered to sit through very long YouTube videos. It's a little baffling but I guess someone makes the rules

Youtube is basically telling people who likes short videos to go away. Now they have the people who watches long videos in their hands as long videos always trend. Tik tok becomes a hit since that's where the short video people moves on since short videos are even hard to search these days.

Yeah I have noticed that as well and that's why people who favor short videos joined TikTok and now that Tik Tok is banned they would have to switch back to YouTube.

Even Google is perferring long articles now, but still not much longer should be required, people read only important topic and not every blah blah, so long videos would be also only blah blah.

Longer video only favor because it's more profitable, but if we look at views of shorter videos, it's usually many than that of longer videos.

Longer videos are movies and second are soap opera etc per episode. Other videos are about various things.
Short videos can be made too, but they have to merged to make it long.
