I went through a phase where I used to watch alot of videos on Youtube but there was two reasons I went back to only watching a small amount and only watching the video I want to watch rather than actually seeking out other videos and making a 2 hour session of just watching random videos.
Reason 1 was the length of videos and like mentioned above the amount of useless filling. I found myself constantly jumping forward every 30 seconds because there would some random/unrelated discussion or just showing random scenes like showing a dog running in the garden for 30 seconds in a product review of a tv for example.
Reason 2 is the click bait titles that make a video sound interesting when actually you find out it was only 15 seconds of a 11 minute video and even that was nowhere near as extreme as suggested. This also connects to problem one as it takes so much time to realize that the video is rubbish and the title was massively overly exaggerated.
Basically I just use YouTube for music videos, videos people tell me about or mention/recommend and reviews for products that I am going to buy but then it is only 1 or 2 max.
In a day and age where peoples attention span is so short (and many sites take advantage of that), youtube is doing the opposite of what they should be doing to match what users actually want.
