Re: Ideal length of an article

Postby Mika » 03 Feb 2022, 06:30

On my forum I am accepting 400 words articles. I will see if I can drive traffic to my forums through short articles.

Novice writers would find it difficult to write 1000 words per article. I think 500 words is sufficient as long as the crucial points are included

Try applying as a writer to pop geeks, they accept 300 words.

Sadly, I am not much into gaming. I don't think I can write well on gaming niche.

To answer the above question, I think the ideal length of an article will depend on the kind of article that you are writing about. I am saying this because some article will need it to be long as it needs more explanation probably for full understanding or for other reasons. And there are also some article that needs some few words to write it. That is just my opinion though. Thanks for sharing.

They are not limited to gaming, They also do Music, Movies and television.

Its basically about popculture in general.

IF that is the case, I will check this out.

Agreed. Some topics demand a long length.

You will just message the editor and tell them you are interested to write for them. You can simply check previously made articles so you can get an Idea for the format they prefer.

I used to concern myself with this but when I started writing for other sites
- some would encourage short post (min 250)
- some asked for longer posts min 400, 500, 750 - depending on the site
- some wanted 1500 words

I was able to earn at the various sites. So I stopped worrying about "the ideal length". At my own sites I do a mix. SHort posts. Medium posts. Lengthy detailed posts. It depends on the topic.

List posts are the easiest if you want to write a long posts. Let's say you do a Top 10 List. That's 10 things listed and you write about 150 to 200 words for each item. You've got 1500 to 2000 words easy! Lists are just a bunch of short posts and combined and people really enjoy lists! Lists make people stay at your site because they want to read the list until they get to the end. It's not enough to look at the first item on the list and then leave the site. They are curious to scroll through the entire article or blog post. It's psychology! :D

Some sites require at least 700 to 1000 words per article such as hubpages and psy per post. If 300 words, it is easily achieved

500 words is often enough for most of the content but I think if you get the good amount of money out then 1000 words or more can be good.

Yup it is a client to client basis. There are clients who prefers longer articles and there are publishers who prefers it short and sweet. I usually use slightly larger text when I write shorter articles. It add illusion to the length.

I will not post long articles for short reward, I think 350-400 words are enough for reward like $1-2; I only give my best attempt (quality) while writing.

Do you write short articles (not short note) in read cash? How many words you use?

I just discovered Quillbot. Its a Paraphraser service online. If clients thinks your vocabulary is boring, You can use this service so it can paraphrase your article and change your boring words with synonyms. Since I am using free version, I have to do it stanza by stanza. I wont pay for premium because it can be done with free. It has the ability to make your article shorter or longer.

I just checked it and found it was working like this (the next paragraph), I don't know if it is boring or entertaining, it is just what it changed.

I just verified it and it was working like this (next paragraph); I'm not sure if this is dull or entertaining; it's just what happened.

This is a sentence before Quillbot:
Kylie Minogue is a singer and actress from Australia. Her popularity begins to rise in the 1980s when she starred in the soap opera Neighbors.

After Quillbot:
Kylie Minogue is an Australian singer and actor. When she starred in the 1980s soap drama Neighbors, her popularity skyrocketed.

I had been abusing Quillbot and grammarly to sound professional and it is getting me gigs.

It turned a generic sentence to an articulate sounding one.

You can trial and error the paraphrasing until you have the most satisfying result.

I would write this from my personal experience I just like short or medium articles but covers the details of what it should. So anything between 500 to 1000 words is okay by me
