.com is the most popular one for sure and it doesn't cost much but some people are using expensive domain extensions like .tv and other ones ..

I think it is not depend on domain extension .com, .in or .net it depends on your domain name.
if you search then you'll find that premium domains are very expensive whatever the extension is used.

Yeah... if you find old domain name then its going to be very expensive..New ones don't cost that much but the older ones do.

When we buy domains from providers, .com is always the costliest as it is the most popular domain extension which people look out for in a website.

Yeah, .tv is really expensive and there are also some other new extension that are expensive than normal .london extension is also expensive.

yes .tv extension is the expensive one and I never tried it, I purchased .net .in and .com and it is okay when we purchase but when renewal it is again expensive.

Twitch.tv is one of the sites who uses .tv extension. I guess their revenue is really a lot. .NET is also quite expensive compared to .COM. I don't find the need to use special domain names in normal sites, just for special occasions it may be useful.
