They are? That is really terrible! Why do people do that if they are just young?

Kids should not join or create blogs in the first place unless they are over 12 years old. My boy is 8, he still plays online games, no blogs or forums

Interesting question... There are a number of very young YouTubers who have large subscriber bases and have to deal with the pressure of negative feedback being a bit of a celebrity. By comparison, a blog is pretty tame. The blog owner can moderate and delete comments and has full control over the content of their site.

I was 14 when I started my first "proper" website and had my identity go online. I don't think I was ready for the consequences of that. But was that a result of being too young OR was it because I hadn't learned how these things work online?

I think parents have to be open to the idea of their children having a blog or any website IF that's what they want to do. It should be supervised though...

I totally agree with you. Actually kids nowadays have a lot of access to the interenet and that is not such a good thing. A lot of crazy people cen be found online these days. So one must be extra careful.

It doesnt matter if you are a kid or and adult if you put your personal info for anyone to see you will regret it.
And as for kids, well, if they are careful i am ok with it.
When i am searching for a game i like to see what young ones think about that game and i will search for theirs reviews. Or when i want to know what games kids play these days.

I would definitely think that the child should or could come up with some sort of screen name in order to protect their true identity. There are way too many predators out there where kids are concerned.

My son is only 5. He is just learning how to read and write, so I don't think that blogging is in his near future.

When he does start blogging I'm planning on urging him to be anonymous. I'll probably be reviewing anything he posts before I let it go live.

I'm not worried about predators as much as I am cyber bullies.

 Kids can write and publish a blog, fine! but sounds a bit funny. The imagination power of kids is really good than us and they can share it but why they gonna hide identity? lol

Alexandoy wrote:Are kids allowed to blog? I know that Facebook disallows minors from creating an account there that's why kids would hide their age although the posts would show their true age. But with blogs, I'm not sure if children are allowed.

Kids get round the facebook age restriction by creating a false date of birth which I think is wrong. A woman I know created an account for her daughter when she was 7. I would never let my granddaughter have one until she is older. Thankfully she isn't interested yet.

I'm not sure how young we are talking here. It's kind of good that a child would be interested in writing at a young age but I think it should be strictly monitored by an adult because as others have said they might not be able to handle some of the comments or criticism that comes along with it.

That is good for them to remain anonymous but make sure you explain that to your kid and if they are using the computer, make sure you are there to guide them. Me, I will never allow my kids to use the computer alone at the very young age.

I agree to this. I think if my son will start a blog very early, I would advise him not to post any photos where people can see his face and not to use his real name in his displayed profile.

I don't know why a kid would need a blog, a lot of kids are on a lot of sites, the parents, just don't monitor very well.

I think most of the kids get in a lot of trouble, spending too much time on the internet isn't good for them anyway.

When you say kid you mean a 9 year old child ?
Kid can be a 12 yearold or even a teen. I dont have a problem with tenagers writing a blog. It can be a great start for a career in journalism. I am all for that.

I think either way is fine as long their parents are paying close attention to their internet usage not just to police what they should or should not be doing but to also teach them how to deal with other people on the web.

On this day and age you eventually your kids will expose their identities on the internet, thats just how things are right now. Its better to take whatever chance you have to, as early as possible, teach them how to treat people and avoid getting baited into unnecessary arguments. If every single parent did that the internet would be a much better place

i think there should be age restriction for blogging too. Virtual world is full of all sorts of people and kids are too vulnerable. They might end up giving vital personal info on blog and land in trouble.
