Re: How many staff?

I think any brand new forum should have a starter team to help with bugs, moderation, and posting. It's better to have a starter team so you do not struggle finding an experienced team while the forum is online.

Interesting. What type of forum is it? Can you handle all the moderation work? :) We don't have a lot of forums that are run by just one admin anymore. It's not impossible though. RPs used to work fine with just a main admin doing a one-man show.

Like others have said, the number of staff members should not be set in stone. Promotion forums may need more staff members than general discussion forums. My promotion forum will be opening soon, and it has seven staff members. There are three administrators, two moderators, and two packagers.

Staff are very helpful, I would have 1 admin and 2 moderator, they are a big help for me to monitor and make my site safe.

You can have many staffs as you want but it all depends on the type and how big is your forum. Some forums have grown so big that they will require you to have staffs while others are still small and may require one, two, three or many staff to keep it going on.

I co-owned a site that also had forums. It was political, so yeah, things could get hot from time to time. There were 3 of us (owners), so we basically took turns moderating. One person handled maintenance for the site and the forum while the other one (and I) added content. It probably would have been a lot easier and less time consuming if we had added a couple staff members, but we managed. Our community was fairly good at "self-policing" too, so that definitely helped.

I think I'll get about 3 staff and maybe 10 moderators, maybe the forum site will run so peacefully and productively with that number of staffs and moderators. This is just my idea.

It depends up on how fast you want to things turn around. Higher the man power, higher will the output. But you can start even with no staff and add with the growth.

CyberFreak wrote:I am always of the belief that every single forum is different so there isn't a clear amount of staff in my mind that all forums should have at certain stages of their life.

Some forum require alot more work than others. This can be down to the complexity of the forum (features it offers and software chosen), the owners knowledge of running forums and time available, the type of members it attracts, the genre of forum. Debate forums are likely to need alot more moderation than a forum about Sim City for example. That said, I don't really see the need for any forum to have more than 3 or 4 staff to start off with.

I agree with CyberFreak ,i also think that, forum should have 3 or 4 staff to start off with.
