Re: Have you ever coded anything?

Looks like a good template Dennis, I started out learning web design using Frontpage and Dreamweaver. If I could have that time back I would spend it learning HTML, in my opinion it's much better to learn the code before you start using editors. Plus getting a basic understanding of HTML isn't difficult and it will provide a good foundation for all other website development, whether or not you use an editor.

While I've never coded a site before I have made a very basic command line calculator in C++. It's nothing really special at all though. :P I do however like to modify code that is already pre-made such as the code found in a video game. Of course I don't sell my modifications for a profit, that's against the law. :P

I previously learned some Java as part of a college course. Are you teaching yourself or doing it as part of a course?

Is the site still up, would it be possible for us to view it?

Yes, it is still up. But I did not update that site since it released till now. I make that site out of fun.

That's neat. :) You should definitely improve on the UI, and release it to the public. I can see a lot of interest in this.

Nice, how long did it take you to code it? I've done basic login scripts with Visual Basic however currently in the process of learning PHP properly. I take it you used MYSQL?

I do not think that the site looks great and professional as I will not be trusting any website like this for buying something online, but efforts cannot be denied and the website looks good and cannot be ruled out knowing that this is your first website until now. You need to still work some more and make it more better.

I would guess thebookstore.co.nz. That's 100% fine if you don't trust the site. So far the site has had around $14,000 worth of sales pass through it with the money building up to go to charity.
