I like a mix of lengths with different types of media added in, but I do find that making posts extremely short isn't that good. I think you'd be better off to wait until you had more to add, or at least add a visual or something to go with your shorter posts.

What say you?

How can you explain something through your blog if you post a short one. Blog exists for us to be comprehensive. I think it requires a minimum of 300 words and no maximum, as long as you have given a true information or you are being original.

I love doing 300 to 400 words per post. This is usually easy for me to write as it will enable me publish multiple posts online within a short duration of time.I also do up to 800 words on special occasion.

Exactly. It's hard to create good, informative, content if it's too short. I do think there's such a thing as too long though as well. Well, if it's just a wall of text anyway. If it's broken up nicely, it can be quite long and still be good.

I think length, as long as it's a reasonable length of course, isn't the main criteria. I think providing something informative is important but also providing something fresh. There is so much saturation now on every topic, that it's important now more than ever to try to have good, unique, content.

Bloggers I believe requires at least 300 words. For others it is more than that. And i agree that most search engines require longer post.

Depending on the site, between 300 and 2000 words. Although I often go way over that number, so I have been reaching even 4000 words on occasion.

I think you should neither make your blog post short, and nor so
lengthy. Around 400-500 characters are good
and standard. Always keep in mind that you
are writing for humans, not for computers.

There are two aspects in this:
1. To help search engines recognize the posts
2. To help readers read it

For search engine recognition, a post of at least 300 words is required. 300-500 words is considered ideal, but it could be more. However, I strongly feel that a reader would not like to read something that's too long unless he wants to go really deep into the topic and has any big interest related to his going deep. I feel 500 words is ideal to satisfy both these aspects.

Sometimes the length for some blog post doesn't equal a good read or good quality. I just mean I have come across long post before that were awful. When I post to my blog I try to make it 300 or more words.

Hey, how have you been?

Yeah, I agree. I don't think making long posts just for the sake of making them longer is good. It's pretty easy to tell when someone is just "padding" the post length.

Depends, but my usual aim is about 1000 words - I have found that if you consistently write longer, good quality posts, rather than short ones, the visits start trickling really nicely.

I agree. It is not about the number of words, but it is about the quality that matters. I make it a point that I write about 300 words.

Really, that many words? I've heard that 750 is a good, moderate length. I guess 1,000 words would be considered long rather than moderate.

I think that depends on what you write. I would write more than 300 words though as Google search engine will like it. The longer you write, the longer the people viewed your article and maybe click on the links of your Ads.

Minimum 300 words is must if you write article in blogger, because if you have less words then Google won't find your blog

As others have said, it depends but usually 500-700 words are good but that's my experience for my niche. On the other hand, if you are using WordPress there are quite a good number of plugins available which tells about the SEO as you prepare the post for your blog, try them.

I like to keep my blog posts in the 500 word range. It's long enough to get an idea across without too much detail and then offer them a free PDF download with more information. This allows me to capture an email address.
