It is crazy to me that they are still spending a lot of money, because you never hear anything - or much - about Yahoo these days. So where was the money going?

Looks like yahoo is just about to change hands. With that high rank in alexa, I doubt it will fold any sooner, especially yahoomail has to stay.

I don;t think Yahoo will be closed, although today they had some technical issues, and I was not able to read my emails, even if I was logged in. Maybe they make some updates.

I wouldn't be surprised it Mark Zuckaberg purchased Yahoo. His name seems to be all over everything these days, and his finger seems to be in all of the pies.

I've read an article on Forbes, and there it's said that till now the selling of Yahoo's Internet business is only a rumor, nobody of their staff didn't come in front to make an announcement regarding that. Only Verizon through a technology conference in December has shown itself interested to achieve the Yahoo's Internet business complementary to its AOL properties.

So this has not been confirmed? This is why it is so important to be cautious about what one's reads online, because you can never tell if it is true.

Yahoo had a huge stake in Alibaba. Yahoo made billions of dollars when Alibaba went public. Yahoo will probably sell pieces of its business and focus on specific parts of the business. The ceo has been criticized but there is also hope among investors for a new direction on key business decisions.

In a blog post from Friday, Yahoo announced that will be closed a lot of their products, including Yahoo Games , the messaging app Live Text and some regional media properties like Yahoo Astrology, depending on region. Live Text will be closed to the end of March, while the Yahoo Games will be closed in May.

Oh ok. I actually do not know of anyone in my circle who uses Yahoo games or the messaging apps in any event, so it seems smart to shut it down.

Yahoo, or Google? Well, they both change with time if you ask me. Some good some not so much. I miss Y!Pipes and the backlink tool, but I am sure you never heard of those.

I used yahoo messenger for years. It was simply awesome. I haven't been on it for several years now I wonder if it is still on!

I'm using it everyday. I started to use it in 2000 and since then I use it always. I prefer it instead using Skype.

It's actually quite sad to see such a big company fading. It is my first favorite search engine and email too. Ever since I started to use Gmail, then Google Search, and it seems like I'm moving over to Google.

This is bad news about yahoo shutting down. I 'd rather like to believe it's a piece of fallacy. Well, it is a question being asked and I think the answer should be a no. I reason the company maybe downsizing.

I don't think they're actually shutting down any thing. They just closed a few of their headquarters to cut costs. It doesn't affect the Yahoo! site that much. Even though Google seems to be the dominant one, Yahoo! is still pretty popular in Asian countries like Japan, Korea, and parts of China. They even do better than Google in those countries.

You are right Yahoo is still my personal favourite. I don't think they would shut down so suddenly with still a good number of fans. Yahoo messenger has one of the best features and after adding the video calling option it became even more popular.
