I opened an account just so that I can share my Blogs. Seems they do add my blogs on there.

Thanks for sharing. I missed that announcement. I guess I'll have to wait and see whether I'll be able to benefit from it but the extra option sounds nice.

There are ads even on blogs that are not a part of that program. I am assuming you have to sign up with the program before you receive any money, which I feel is a little bit shady.

That doesn't sound too good but I guess I'll have to investigate it further. I haven't been active at Tumblr lately because I've never been able to attract much traffic to anything I've posted there. Instead I've been concentrating my efforts on my blog (about bonsai) at Blogger. However I'd really like to find a way to use Tumblr properly for non-bonsai content.

I suppose I should wait until Tumblr actually launches the partner program before I decide what I want to do there though.

If you start a new blog, a great way to get your posts to show up in the search tags is to fill your profile. Add a picture and make sure you tag your posts.

* * I currently have two Tumblr blogs. Both of my blogs are now showing "Sponsored Ads". You can go into the dashboard and turn these ads off. But I want the site owners to be able to advertise on my blogs. As it says in the advertisement: "Ads like this keep Tumblr free". There is no revenue-sharing. However, Tumblr does allow users to place their own affiliate referral links on their blogs.

As far as I can tell:
- Ad Sense is not allowed unless you own your domain.
- Clickbank is not allowed.
- Amazon Native Ads are not allowed.

My blogs are about 6 months old and I don't have very many followers. Working on it! :)

Only thing I remember of Tumbr is that I saw it on comparison under the WordPress list. People who wanna create new blogs for free are recommended to use it instead if I'm not wrong. I might be clueless of it

I didn't know you could earn from Tumblr. Tried it some years back but didn't really stay long enough to give it a go. Would give it another go then..

* * If you have a blog on Wordpress or Blogspot and you put affiliate links on them and earn, Tumblr is no different. But you can visit Tumblr's Help Section to find out their specific policy.

Tumblr can be a good source of promotion for your real blogs, from what I've heard. I'm sure some people make money with it as well. I know some who don't make enough to write home about though.

* * You have to gain a following first. It also helps if you post something and it gets picked up by the Tumblr Radar. I don't know how the Staff makes their selections to put a post on the radar. I saw one of my posts and almost fainted. But once you gain followers, you'll notice that your promotion efforts will start paying off.

Tumblr is a "strange animal" though. It's a like cross between a blog, Twitter and Facebook.

Yeah, it goes without saying that you need a following on any of these social sites.

I'm guessing they choose based on the traffic an article is getting, or the hotness of the topic at the moment.

I often see Tumblr when searching for some photos, but I never created an account yet. But it seems a good site to generate traffic for you blog based on a friend's experience.

* * I tell you. I must live in a different world. Sometime when I see the "trending topics" on Tumblr, I'm like "What planet is this???" I gave up on looking at the trending topics and just search for what I want to see.
