This is good platform as people may not have the strength to fill the sign up form

I check my email compulsively. I guess that means you're telling me I'm old. However, I do appreciate a centralized registration process. With most forums and portals that I go to either trying to recycle old material and such, it makes it tough for me to bring myself to filling out all the forms to become a member just to have it be a waste of time. To register through social media makes it a bit easier to take a chance on any new forums and such.

The only challenge I see in this is that some of them will ask to post on your behalf which I won't want to permit it at all.

I asked about that my designer, who had helped me with my forum and replied that such an option is quite unpleasant for every webmaster because it takes a great deal of work to install that after every update of the system. I did not actually ask what kind of update he meant, (social networks, cms, forum plugins). Maybe it is really a complicated thing, I don't know. But judging by how many forums don't have such a function, I can believe that it is a really difficult thing to make that work. I know a bit of html, java script, css, but I never honestly tried to install that on my forum. I am just afraid to spoil everything. That's what I think, being brutally honest, my opinion may contradict with others and I may be mistaken, but at least I have some ideas. ;)

Through social media accounts it will be easier to sign up on any website. One of my game app has this option of logging in from Vk account or Facebook, so it became very easy for me to login there.

Its easier for the members who dont use emails anymore but challenging for website owners due to extra coding but your comfort is not as important as potential member's comfort.

I never liked this idea at all, I like the anonymity of working on a site and having my privacy without being known unless I just want to connect with some people but it shouldn't be so open to everyone. So I prefer the use of emails than sign-up on any site using my social media accounts.

So you don't want the people who prefers this to have no option?

I was going to turn this on to make it easier for people to join my forum, but mybb doesn't let you unless you install a plugin. (Need to research/decide which of their social media login plugins is the best / most reliable one)

The convenience factor of signing up via email is a great positive. However, there could be security implications as well, so I guess signing up with email is not too bad either.

This option is not bad often if social network have problems you will have to. In that case you can't do anything about it. If you will use it than offer multiple options plus email option for those who want stay annonymus.

I have to say I'm the same. I just feel like by using say my Facebook account, the site has access to all my personal information that I'd prefer NOT to make public. So I prefer signing up via an email address and disabling/unsubscribing from the email notifications to bypass being spammed.

I like to sign in using emails and don't want unnecessary snooping on my social media profiles. But a site may provide incentives to users who connect their social media profiles with their accounts. Or if the site doesn't have an incentivizing option, they might provide a verified tag on the accounts that have provided their social media info.

I remember when Facebook offered an email service for everyone. I was able to receive emails directly to my messenger. my email was something like facebookID[at]facebook.com, but it didn't last longer than a year if I'm right. It was an easy way to register on any website without checking your actual email.

Oh I remember this, yeah it was really really convenient honestly, receiving emails in your messages, but then again there was a security risk in that too.

Kids are too lazy for emails though and You need to have Gen Zs and Millenials to get ads.

I saw many websites already started doing it and it makes things easier and you don't need to remember the password. Even BMf started doing it

I don't consider it a good feature because the website can know about our details and will be a threat to our privacy.

The option of registering with social network accounts is a nice one, but I'm always scared about the security of my information whenever any site tells me to login with my Facebook or any other social media platforms. There are times some people gave their social media details on registering in some site and got their accounts hacked. This is why I fear this option.

Yeah that would definitely attract a lot of young members but personally I prefer to just register with my gmail and it's probably better if a forum does not have too much young members.
