If i ever make a website I'll most likely go for either .com or .net. Though I like .net more, .com seems to get more people's attention.

i think the .com is the best choice, because it cheap and easy to built. but for security reason you may use specific tld's like .co.k to make the visitor believe that the website is the real company

I would prefer to select .com but too expensive to buy the perfect domain name. All those good names had been bought by companies, only the lousy ones are still available. Hence, unless you opt for .net, cheaper while you may have the chance to buy your preferred domain name too

.com is best domain, I will prefer you .com if you want site, try to buy from name cheap or godaddy

I guess that if you have a generic and/or commercial purpose, .com will do fine. But if the local/national audience/market is your goal, you should invest in you national TLD (.pt, .il, .jp, .ch, etc)

Try GoDaddy and Namecheap those are legit site and offers a decent price.

A legit site should also charge yearly rather than monthly.
