I just opned epaper of a news paper in India, it is free, it runs on ads that are presented on paper.

Anything can happen, but I think it is time to change; paper in few years will become outdated; Covid lockdown forced for a temporary period.

They do make money but somehow we can find a way to read news online via e-papers but some of the pages which are premium ones cannot be read freely

Those digital papers are sent out for free to increase the number of its readers, this is how they attract advertisers, paper will cost, more copies = more charge for ads, but e-copy can take free load, so less charge for ads and they will earn enough revenue.

You have idea like newsportals? Most revenue it has from rent ad space for some advertisers. From Adsense program and impression view system CPM it don't earn much.

Digital papers will run much better, you only need ads for them, and publish unlimited issues, nothing for lose, but good if even free subscribers increase, ad companies will be attracted.

Yesterday I wanted to read the Punjab Kesri newspaper online but it wanted me to pay Rs. 70 for a month and looking at the cost of the regular paper it's cheap as it costs around Rs. 120 a month
