I agree, but in my opinion you shouldn't even open those spam mails that you don't recognize except if you are in a virtualized environment or a disposable environment. A variety of malware may lurk behind the innocent looking text message asking for a penpal ( for example ).

I am sorry if I offended anyone or said something wrong.

If they are on my contact list, they are important. If they aren't it is usually spam. I do check my junk every now and then, and nothing that I deem to be important comes up there.

I use Gmail and normally the spam emails end up on the junk folder, so I don't care much about them. In Yahoo as in many other email servers you can do several things to reduce the amount of spam emails you are reciving like:

- Using the "spam" and "not spam" buttons.
- Block certain senders' email addresses.
- You can also block images in the emails, this actions doesn't let spammers from confirming that their images and emails are viewed.
- Never respond to unsolicited email.
- Never respond with the word "remove" (or similar) to stop unsolicited spam email.

Also make sure you Never sign up with sites that promise to remove your name from spam lists.

I experienced same problem with Whzon, and I marked one of those emails as spam. I use also Yahoo Mail. Then all emails from Whzon went to Spam folder.

Thee is a way to unmark them as spam. I have done it before in the past, though it may have changed?

I do remove spam emails in bulks. I don't do it daily. I could get 900 spam emails in a month. So, no point doing it daily. I would delete the whole bunch at the end of the week.

That is too time consuming for me. I just block all emails but those that are in my contact list. That way if I open my junk folder, and go through and open the emails that I am interested in, instead of having to delete junk in bulk.

I add the e-mail address to a folder I called "Spam2" and their messages get automatically added there. I don't add them to the primary spam folder because not all of those messages are spam.

So you created your own custom folder, and they all just automatically go there? How did you make it so that they go there by default?

I can get more than 900 in one day, so I trust Gmail to put the spam in the right place and delete them every time I open my email with the delete all spam link. I may delete a few good ones, but people who know me also know where to find me.

I think in every email facility from different browsers has a spam filter which it needs to be enabled. Those doubtful emails are filtered and placed in the said spam folder. You visit or check it once in awhile for there are instances that a genuine email sometimes is classified to spam.

I think it depends upon how many times you have given your email out. And to which sites, because some will pass on your email, and you'll get tons of junk email. I don't quite get 900 a day, but close to it. I just would not have the time to clear the junk emails manually.

That doesn't always seem to be the case unfortunately. I have had certain mailers on my spam list for years, and somehow they are managing to get their email through to my inbox now.

You can set up a separate folder and just filter those emails into their own folder to keep them out of your inbox. That way, if you ever do get mail that you want to read from them you'll still be able to, rather than unsubscribing.

I have made my own folders in gmail before. But how will that folder know which emails to capture?

Marking them as spam, then deleting the spam folder on email.

I recently purchased a new smartphone and it is the latest software and such, but I don't know how to block emails. I have blocked certain senders before, and recently they have been able to get their emails into my inbox. I don't know how.
