Re: Do you own a forum?

You dont really need a lot of money if your forum is not a PTP. If your forum is a regular one all you need to pay for will be the platform that runs your forum if you are not using a free one. Owners of non paying forums earns from ads.

If you are not paying, I do not think you can get regular posters. When you do not have regular posters, it is difficult to build content and traffic. When there is no content and traffic, earning will be almost impossible.

The thing is. I have regular posters and I don't pay them. It took me years to get regulars. You can see even if its not as active, I have very recent posts from unpaid people. The forum is also monetized because those activity. I got ads. Zoomers don't care about making money on forums, they care about having a community. The highest earning forums are non paying.

Casuals are bigger than the earn online crowd and I am telling you, advertisers prefers casuals, especially the zoomers. You need to have a large base of zoomer members.

If it were not for the fact that I really need to earn money from my online activity, I would not mind participating in non-paying communities. But I don't have that luxury. You are fortunate that you don't have to pay your members because I have noticed that ads on forums do generate income.

Advertisers prefers zoomers, That's why I feel like Mylot is in trouble because they alienated the zoomers so much it became a Boomer territory. To make it worst the Boomers are dying off. I prioritize getting young members and Young members don't like ptp.

That's true. However, for rest of us who are trying to build our own community, getting members is very difficult. I have recently set up a forum and I am thinking to spend $10-$20 to pay the early members to post so that my forum has some activities. I do not think I can continue paying.

Before paying members, You should make fake accounts that talks to each other to show them how you want the conversations there to look like. That way they wont millk you.

Not anymore because it attracts a lot of spammers. I link the quality threads on twitter instead. It gives me traffic.

Its better if you just hire people here. So you have a record on how they make posts. You can just pay them with forumcoins. Postloop is gone and if you do forumwheel, The best members are not active anymore.

You can also hire some people from the slave labour subreddit.

I will consider this option.
Currently, I am trying to hire FC users to create posts on my forum. I will wait to see if this works.

Before accepting forumcoin members, Look at their posting history. No way on earth I will hire those 10 generic repetitive post a day BMW squad.

I had one member from FC, who did not post what I wanted, I told him, if he continues to post the same, I will stop buying from him. He has not posted again.

Do not accept the BMW 10 generic post club. I have disastrous experience with them. Also don't trust newbies because they have proven themselves here yet.

I might accept everyone who registers through forum coin because I cannot be choosy when my forum is new and do no have members and posts. Once I have some members and regular posters, I will try to be choosy.

I also thinking of starting a new forum. Starting a new forum it’s difficult compared to starting a blog. Getting new post on your forum is the most tricky part and getting new members is also a difficult task. You may end up launching a forum that will never succeed after 3 months.

If I see someone who would to sell a forum I will be ready to buy at a reasonable price.

I am Just glad I am getting new members under 21. Getting young members means my forum have a future. Look how lack of young members becomes a problem with Mylot. Members are dying off.
