I will have to upgrade my hosting and buy a domain, which might cost me at least $100 for the first year. I can use phbBB which is free but I will have to pay for posters for content development, which might cost me at least $100 per month (just my assumption, though).

A domain will cost you little more than $10 per year and hosting is not expensive. If you feel the idea would work and it is something you really want to do, you get started with a low investment and see where it goes from there.

Thanks for the idea. Maybe I should use shared hosting (not a VPS, just like I estimated previously) and keep the cost low. Instead of paying for all posters, paying a few can be a good idea.

If you are into gaming, I think you should opt for a gaming app instead of gaming website because these days people game on hand held devices.
