Thats a pretty good idea, but what do you mean by a contest. A contest about what, to be exact?

Can someone please share how the contests have perform in your forums. I understand, after a contest, the site ranking starts to fall, because most of the people just come for the money and not content of the forum. When the money is over, or the contest is gone. Many members become inactive.

I think incentivising members is not a good thing in the long run. It kills the community's organic development.

But I would wish to hear your experience.

Maybe you should offer something else not just money. Money will attract most posters but services like domains, hosting will attract less but maybe little serious and long term audience.

I also don't like referral contests. It is so hard to convince people to join a site.

Would that be something that interested you?

I would wish to know how this contest went. Is it working for you. Did you get quality posts? Share your forum link.

Yeah I think that would really motivate and encourage people to post more, just wish other forums could do something like this.

I have never come across a site that gives posting contests. I have only come across referral contents but I am so poor at those. Posting seems easier to do but I guess they don't give them anymore as it could lead to spamming in a site.

Such contests are exploitation and often the people who spend a lot fo time dont get compensated.

I think a further break-up will attract more users. Like 1 gets $3, 2nd gets $2 and the next 13 get $1 each. That way 15 members will get the benefit. You will still pay $15 but more people will be interested and you will save spam posting while too many people will be contesting for 3 spots.

I think the issue with that is that you will attract a lot of low quality content because users looking to post high quality content won't be interested in small prizes like $3.

I disagree, I would be interested in more prizes in smaller amounts if there were judgments on the quality. Just plain quantity as the only criterion brings out worthless content.

I think I am interested in contests that can benefit from. For example Contest about the highest poster in a day then you can reward the first 20 members with little amount of dollars can be worthy it
