I prefer dark themes when it's night time! During the day a light theme is better eheh because at night if you have a light theme it'll hurt your eyes :P

I like brighter theme as it is easily readable. And I think forum is the place where usually people come to read about the topics they want. So they should be able to view every words without being irritated by themes.

I tend to be drawn to the darker themes. I like darker colors in general, so that's probably the reason. Darker backgrounds with lighter foregrounds work well for me and is usually more visually appealing.

I prefer light themes but not white. I find the blue of this forum very easy on the eyes and strangely enough, when I first join a new site, the colour and general presentation will have a big effect on how I feel about it. I don't like a black background.

Personally, I like browsing on bright themes because my eyes hurt with dark themes. For example, the theme of ForumCoin is pretty good. Dark themes are not so professional, are they?
Everything depends on everyone's preference.

Both dark and light themes can look good depending on the provided options. If it's too dark/hard to bear then I'll go for lighter stuff. If a bright theme doesn't look too appealing or the dark one looks better, then I'll go for the dark one.

Themes must be effective, rather than being flashy or fancy. Light themes are better,as they make the website content readable and appealing.

I like them both. but sometime it depends on the theme itself. Some of the themes (dark and bright) don't look good.
So it all depends on what options I can choose from.

I find it hard to read when the theme is dark and the font color is white. I have seen websites with this kind of theme and I can't stand looking at it. I think most professional website is on a lighter shade.
