Creative Cloud or Just PhotoShop?

Postby Sam » 04 Jan 2016, 09:05

Hi,

I'm wondering what the benefits are of getting the full Adobe Creative Cloud over just plain and simple Photoshop. I believe the full creative cloud, with student discount, would cost me ~$5 more a month.

I'm looking to use Adobe for:
- Web design related images (logos/ signatures/ mockups).
- General photo editing (probably not that often).
- Doing fun(ny) photoshop edits to post on Facebook...

I would never be a heavy user.

My personal experience was I tried every way I could think of to keep from paying hundreds of dollars for Photoshop and in the process probably spent more for worthless products that had I bought it in the first place.

That being said, I discovered Photoshop Elements and bought version 2 on Ebay for $10. I have been delighted ever since and can do everything I want with it for my websites. I can even read most .psd files made with Photoshop and edit them for my use.
Since then I have purchased from Ebay versions 5,6,8 and soon 11. I can't imagine what else I will need, but I found a website full of tutorial that got me interested in 11 (and why I should avoid 14).

Personally I prefer having my software on my own machine, but I do use Gmail from the Cloud and have been glad I did a few times.

I have Windows 10 on my laptop and it runs Elements 6 with no problems, even though it was published for Windows XP.

Photoshop is for editing graphics and Photos to prepare them for websites.
