Contests

Postby Mr.Panos » 03 Sep 2013, 01:00

Many webmasters decide to organize some contests for their websites in order to increase their activities.
Personally, I like organizing contests because I enjoy satisfying my members!

I like contests also, this is because it helps entice new people to come to my forum and reward already registered users. When I get the chance I like to run as many contests as I can with good rewards.

Contests are really nice, a lot of people love contests.

My favorite contest is "top poster" contest.

I really like contests, and I am thinking about holding a contest for my members at my MN9 forum. I have a contest going on at another forum, but the turnout is horrible unfortunately. I'll have to cancel it for now and maybe come up with a different contest... :\

A lot of you say you run contests. Can you describe your contests? Do you base the winner on number of posts (objective) or quality of posts (subjective) or some other factors?

I would really appreciate hearing what you do.

Also, as shamzblueworld asked, what are the prizes you find work best?

I have ran many contests in the past however instead of doing a posting contest, I did a raffle where you needed 20 posts to enter and the winner will be picked using a random name generator which got me a lot more activity then a posting contest because towards the end, people still had a chance of winning without having to play the catch up game by a couple of hundred posts.

I love contests as well.

I have never lost a posting contest that I was in to win. Is that bad or sad? Should people be scared to see me enter a contest? :P I don't enter many contests anyways I'm more of the person to host them.

When you do a posting contest that is normally what it is. However I like to tend to do more contests that would put the user into actually participating in the community rather then just trying to get as many posts done at once.

Contests are great for a forum that has noticed a drop in post count compared to before. I personally loved to get involved in posting contests but for a site owner it may have undesired effects with degrading post quality with users trying to have quantity of posts rather than quality.
