Does "NOT FOUND" effects my website's SEO ?

Postby Medjai » 21 Feb 2016, 10:51

Hello Guys!!! I got 11 Not Found errors in my Search Console suddenly last night. I checked the links but for me they are appearing quite well. Can anyone suggest me what to do, that does not effect my website's SEO.

"Not Found" is one of the website transaction errors. MS has a list of HTTP errors and the reasons why they do exist. These errors may be classified as the website or the web page error. And there are numbers designated for these errors like 404 to 505. That error may affect the performance of your website o webpage. It will be related to your downtime activity of your website.

I would suggest you study up on using .htaccess to handle errors, then you won't get site not found anymore.

If I get a "File Not Found" error a lot of times I will alter the URL just a little. Like remove or add .WWW.

Example: htp://www.yoursite.com to http://yoursite.com

That is a solution from the visitors side, but many won't bother. If you own a site adding a redirect to the .htaccess does it for them, so you don't lose traffic you worked hard to get.

If I get that, I would trace it down on my blog for the post that shows "Not Found" and fix it. I am not sure if it affects the SEO side of things, but it just looks bad on my blog. If you don't want to loose your reader, then get to the root of it.
