What do you think of promotion forums? The most common is ForumPromotion. They are basically sites where you advertise (promote ) your website or forum?

Personally I can see a great benefit in the concept: a community of people helping each other to succeed by boosting activity to everyones sites. In practice, you don't seem to get much out of promoting on them.

Thought there's not much to get for promoting your forum, but yet you have the opportunity to expose your forum or website for others to check it later. The more your expose your forum, the more chance of getting it the needed attention; rather than nothing at all.

I agree with your final judgement and I have been in dozens of them. It's usually a one sided experience, all take and no give.

Promotion platforms are good for new webmaster as well as professional webmaster. We can use forum promotion as a launching pad to gain visibility.

I look for individuals who need help.

I am not big on promoting on forums. However, I reach a lot of people in FC that like my posts and reach out in curiosity and friendship.

One big mistake, in my opinion, is trying to sell your product to everyone. I think it is better to pick and choose than to blanket the web with your promotions.
