yes i had that experience previously that too from this site only. Few months back i have posted some comments in a particular thread . To my shock some member has copy pasted mine in the same thread. I immediately informed the Administration, who immediately checked it and removed that copy pasted comments of that member.

As far as I know, I've never had content stolen and used without my permission. Although I've heard some of my online friends complain it's happened to them. I wouldn't even know how to guard against, but I'd like to know if there's a way around it. I'll be watching this thread, for sure :)

Yes, once I had someone try to steal my music and make money from it by re-posting it on social media websites such as Youtube. I had to go through the entire process to get it taken down.

I don't have any experience like that but for my friend. She has a food blog with lots of attractive photos of recipes there and once she was shocked by seeing her snaps in another blog.she contacted them through Facebook and made them remove it.

I see lot of thread posts in this forum stolen from other forum sites that confuse me whether I am on this forum site or that forum site. Some of the posts are common in all forums without change of even a single word.

When I was writing full time, it did happen. Since I was usually writing for other sites or for clients who bought full rights, it was up to them to chase down the people who did it. I know in one case, the "borrowed" content was quickly taken down.

Luckily, I haven't encountered anything like it before! I can't imagine what it must've felt like to see the same comment copy-pasted on the same forum thread!

A small chunk of content, yes, but it didn't matter to much because it wasn't that important to me anyway. But I wish people would ask for permission if they were going to steal it. Or at least credit me.

I write on Hubpages. In the past 5 years, my contents have been stolen many times. I first ask the thief to take my content down. If he does not listen, I file DMCA sometimes I also write to web host of the website where my stolen content is published.

I can't say that I've ever had content stolen from my forums before. I guess that none of my forums have ever gotten big enough to have that issue! I'm not sure if that's a curse or a blessing. XD

Yes, I had, both my articles on a paid website and on my posts on my blogs were stolen. The ones on the paid websites, I notified the admins right away but the one on my blogs I had to contact the thief personally asking them to remove it off their site, or put my byline somewhere on that post. I gave them a certain time to cooperate, and if not, then I will contact Blogger/Wordpress to report since most of the blogs were either on Blogger or Wordpress that happened to me.

I don't know if this qualifies, but I once had a poster on PL copycatting my posts on other forums. I was creating new threads, and this person was copying them. When I went to report them to Ryan, I learned that the poster was not even with PL, which made it even stranger.

This sounds kind of scary for anyone to happen to them. I luckily never had this happen to me. I just hope I would know if someone tried to steal content from my blog.

I have never had my content stolen by another person. I'd welcome anybody that would like to use part, not all, of my content for their work which must be on agreed financial terms.

Re: Content Stolen

Yes, many times but i had a backup copies so my case was quickly dropped in every instance.
Not once I had a cases where a client decided not to pay and disappeared and I published the whole batch in some random either earning or non-earning website, but after some time some random person would contacted me demanding that I take off my original article because he bought the same for his company or a webpage. Of course in every case my content was much older because I published my things faster than a fraudster could sell it.
Once I found my comments in the debate and a webpage I was never a member off, requested the deletion of the same and got it. A person who built that webpage took off the comments off the Yahoo answers and pasted them into his own comment section but forgot to change the usernames.

That is weird. Why would someone steal with no purpose? Hmmm, maybe they were with some other paid posting service?

Maybe they just really liked your posts.

You would be surprised how often this actually happens. I had a person that I know put up some poems on a social media site, and then found out that someone had tried to publish their work and monetize it.
