Too Much of a Good Thing?

Postby oldfriend » 06 Mar 2016, 17:02

I have too many Gmail accounts and too many profiles. (5 total)

Would you recommend cutting back to just 1 Gmail and 1 G+ Profile?

I also have several email accounts with each serving its purpose. My primary is for official and personal, the secondary is for friends, another is for research, and there are more. In total, I have 8 emails.

Lately I have always read about "Less is More", which is a good principle to apply to our life.
I have also learned asking the question "Is this essential?"
So, you can go through all your Google accounts and profiles, ask that question and see if it's necessary to be kept. I am not sure if one is enough for you, if you need them for different purposes as @Alexandoy , I just think keeping it as minimal would be easier for you to maintain.
Just my thoughts, as I am learning to minimalize my stuffs, my life.

How do you manage to work with all that e-mails accounts. Don't you ever get confused?
I have two email accounts, one personal and another one for work, and that is enough for me.

I only have a couple of e-mail accounts but I would keep a book and write down all your accounts and passwords maybe down them by a few and try to organize I know that I find it hard to keep track of all my passwords and accounts so I have a book that I am writing them down in, prior to this my daughter kept them all written down for me got to love daughters.

I have two email accounts. One I do not use very often and one that is my main email account. I probably should have one for my online work, one for my business, and my personal one since my personal email account gets bogged down with all my emails and sometimes it is a chore to go through. I do not think that I could handle any more than that though. I would tend to forget about them unless like @Ravin33 said to write them down in a notebook. I think if you can do without some then purge them but if you still use them at least on a some what frequent basis then keep them.

You make me feel good. I thought I was the only one who handled a bunch of email accounts.

I may still cut back and downsize a little though.

I recently had the same discussion with myself, but since they are all free I decided to keep them all.

The profiles are easy, they can just sit there and who knows when someone will stumble across one and follow your link.

I have over 30 Gmail accounts, so what I did was pick the 8 most used one and enter the logon into LastPass so I can check them several times a day in just a few minutes. The lesser used ones I forward to one collection point and check that, or if they are no longer needed I use the Vacation setting to forward them all to the same place and send an automated reply at the same time.

I would never tell anybody to cut back. I must have over ten Gmail accounts, and that is not even mentioning the email accounts that I have with other Hotmail and Yahoo, amongst others. It is very useful to have more than one email address. as long as you can keep track of them, have as many as you like.

Having multiple email accounts is pretty common. They can serve different purposes. It can help you stay organized. Organization is one of the keys to success.

I too have 4-5 gmail accounts but use only 2 of them on regular basis. I can open 4 of them at the same time on different browsers but open only one at a time. However yoou have to keep them active by logging in at least once every six months.

As noted, email accounts are free, so it's really not an issue for me. I have several. One is for sign ups (my spam account, so my "real" email isn't bombarded with spam), one is for my blog, one is for paypal, etc.

Not all of my email addresses are used for my online earning, although many of them are. I have personal ones, too - more than one. I have a log of all of the email addresses that I have, along with their passwords.

Dunno if it's even a good thing. Do you have a reason for having so many? It may be useful if you run several separate businesses and can easily and quickly switch between them to check emails.

I have just two and use Chrome for one, Firefox the other so no need to switch.

Believe it or not, by using filters and working at it, you can actually stop spam from filling your inbox on
Gmail.

No, why to cut anything, now you can have more than one account logged in the browser, it's not so hard to jump between them.
