Where Do You Get Your Templates?

Postby IcyFirefly » 24 Mar 2016, 16:12

Since the beginning, I have always loved OurblogTemplates.com. They have so many functional pretty templates for free. I like to play around with the changes on my blog, and depends on my mood, I would change the template to either three columns or five columns.

The templates on OurBlogTemplates also allow you to change the background color, text color, and almost everything you want to change. If you know a little HTML or CSS, this would be a breeze to fool around with. All they asked is to keep their name intact at the bottom, which is only right and I don't mind advertising for them either. So where do you get your templates?

I am drifting away from WordPress templates in favor of HTML5 Bootstrap templates. I put together one page mobile responsive sites like building blocks and it's pretty simple.

I really like elegant themes for their templates, as they are very easily modifiable and are very robust. Also, themeforest is a great themes marketplace. I have bought several themes from there, and they are all usually high quality and have great support.

Now, I mostly use bootstrap templates as well, because of their responsiveness and also easy to use.

themeforestis one of my favorite sites for website templates, and lately I like to browse in sharebootstrap

I don't know about OurblogTemplates, I will check it out soon. ;)

Thank you for the links to these two new sites. Upon checking on them, I found that they all cost some money to buy the template. Do you know any sites that you can get templates for free with the option of modifying to your liking?

There are more free templates available than you can count, for example I spent 2 minutes doing a search and came up with this sweet example: https://github.com/bmgdev/responsive-wedding

The best part is if you have even a little HTML, CSS and Graphics skills, you can modify these to take on any niche you want to and look unique each time.

Thank you @oldbuddy ! I think I am ADD because I get bored with the look of my blogs and always want to change it up now and then. I took a couple of HTML classes in college but I am sure they are ancient; still I think can manage my way around with more gray hair on my head, but will get it done :)

When you use a template, all the heavy lifting is done for you and even your old college classes will take you further than you think. It's mostly copy and paste the building blocks and change the copy.

Whenever I need a template.. I just go to Google and search for templates ... many websites appear and most of them are good ..but always the best templates are those that you can pay to get them.

I'm sorry, but that sounds like a MYTH perpetrated by those who want to charge for templates. I have often found free templates that outperform their paid counterparts by a long way. Especially if simplicity is one of your primary goals.

There are a free section in sharebootstrap, you can find some good templates for free there as well.
As for ThemeForest, there is a free file for the member to download every month. If you sign up to the site, you can check out for the free template monthly.

I also always do a search when I need to look for any templates, such as "free bootstrap templates", or "free blogger templates". You'll usually get a list of best templates for free. ;)

That's really an interesting and sweet website. If I have found this template 10 years ago, I might have used it for my wedding.

With a little creativity the same template could be used for an unlimited number of niches.

I am not a believer of paying for anything when there is free ones available! Are you telling that if a bakery is giving out a free loaf of bread, you won't take it and insist on paying for it?

I can see why the designer of the template asking for a price on unique one or special one since everyone must make a living somehow. If I need something special that I can't do or can't find it for free, I would pay too!

Just call me "Out of Touch."

I get to looking at templates and get overwhelmed.

So I go back to what I do know, which is the old standby templates that I have used or I will sit down and design a simple template using Microsoft Expression Web.

When I have a lot of problems in my head and can't find a solution, I messed around with the HTML in my template and it seemed to help me focus my brain on something else rather than the problem at hands. I think this is my way of letting the problem sits for a while and then I can work on it with fresh views.

I am not all that techy, but I can manage moving columns around in my template :)

The more simple changes you make to your template, the easier it gets and the more skills you add. I started doing this when I first came online and now I am able to get paid for web designing when I have never had any formal training, just seat-of-the-pants action that has grown to be a marketable skill. One free tool that has brought this along at warp speed is http://W3Schools.com

Yes, I love that W3Schools.com website, and I have learn a bit here and there on that site. While in college a long time ago, my teacher also recommended the tucows.com for free software and shareware. These were the two websites that I tap in to find the information and to learn on my own!

I am not too artistic or too changeable when it comes to my blog template. If I want to customize it, I will just use the templates of my website like the Blogger or the WordPress. They also look nice and beautiful.

I do a search for templates whenever I want one. I don't really have any pqrticular website I go or stick to. I'd like comparing the outlook of the templates from the different sites I visit.

I do this too, and find many free template websites! Somehow, I always stick with OurBlogTemplate since I can customize to my liking! I haven't done this in a long time with my blogs though, as I am now using MacBook, and things are not at all easy to see with Apple as it was with my Window laptop. So I will just leave them the way they are.
