How Do People Cheat On Forums?

Postby oldfriend » 27 Mar 2016, 15:44

Specifically Forumcoin.

How do people beat the "forumcoin" system?

I am truly amazed how people figure out ways to cheat the system and totally ignorant on how to do this.

Just general chat and nothing specific. ie., If Forumcoin says you can only have 1 account, how could you possibly set up a 2nd account with ip numbers and such. Also wouldn't you have to do twice the work to maintain 2 accounts?

Again, just wondering out loud and maybe someone would know about an article somewhere that kind of explains this stuff.

Using methods to cheat the forum would only cheat themselves and the rest of us with them. I would rather work on finding ways to provide the Forum with a BONUS any way I can, so they will be around for a long time and benefit more people every day.

I learned one thing about writing on forums. These forums have guidelines that must be followed or they will be subjected to being banned from a forum. I also learn many new ways to make my forum posts better just by reading the different posts and ways they are worded so they can be understood in a simple form.Just don't cheat the system because the only one who will lose is you.

I have no intention of cheating.

I was reading the FAQ's and it warned against cheating.

I was just trying to understand how people can do it.

I am with you OldfrieInd. I would wonder the same thing about people would cheat on FC. But I guess if people want to cheat they will find a way to do it. I am not sure if it would really be worth it though because you would have to do 2x the work right? Unless they figured something else out. In the end, it would cheat everyone who works honestly for the betterment of ForumCoin.

I don't know. So many sites these days, including forums, are hip to many of the 'workarounds.' I suspect that those who want to cheat would use proxies, but there is still a way to detect multiple accounts.

People will always look for ways to cheat. I swear, some people spend more time trying to figure out how to scam than they actually spend just putting in appropriate effort.

I think the owners here are savvy enough to catch cheaters. I wish I could say the same for all sites.

I pity whoever plan to cheat the system on FC because I believe certainly he/she will be fished out it's only a matter of time. Talking seriously the energy it takes one to work out a strategy to cheat if such energy was channelled into a positive job that person could be a star

The mind truly boggles as to why they do it, instead of just knuckling down and abiding by the rules. The same people will cheat, here, there and everywhere. But somewhere along the line, they do get caught and they will then squeal about the unfairness of it all! People are weird.

To be honest, cheating is no where near as much of a problem as it used to be. They was a time where daily multiple accounts would be banned and I would spend over a hour daily dealing with them all.

Users have tried lots of ways to cheat. Some are easy to detect and some are harder but typically once I found a user using a certain way to cheat, I could then find a way to block users from doing the same again or make it harder to get away with it. Some users make it blatantly obvious though.

Some of the most common methods are as follows:
1) Multiple accounts set up from the same IP address. Some users have set upwards of 10 accounts from the same IP address in the matter of a couple of hours. These are the users that seem to think we are idiots
2) Using Proxies/VPN. This can be difficult to block but we have some way to block a large number of proxies at registration (while wasting a bit of their time) but otherwise we can see all the IP's used by users here and manually we can just check the log and see at a glance if any users has made any actions with questionable IP's due to the range of information we get on each IP.
3) Some users with dynamic IP's just set up an account, reconnect to the internet and get a new IP and set up a new account. Sometimes these can be connected by all signing up under another related account as its referral but we also have a few other ways to detect these accounts which I won't make public for obvious reasons ;)

We take alot of information from various places to flag potential malicious accounts and to confirm suspicions so we can be confident. We have also been known to get tip-offs from other sites of accounts to watch. Also some users and moderators have also been able to detect similarities or suspicious accounts aswell. Some users are even silly enough to brag about it on other sites and give tips to other users to set up multiple accounts not realising we are watching and playing with them :P

Can people cheat and get away with it? Yes. Many though actually lose out. Some end up making 50+ posts then decide to cheat and lose all their accounts. They spent all that time posting and get nothing... not even one cent. Sometimes we don't detect cheaters until they request a payout. Then they earn the whole 500 FC and lose them all. That is why payments are handled manually and take a day or 2 to process. It is a great time to focus on every aspect of an account and all the information we gathered on that account over the time it took them to reach payout.

Some people cheat because they just think they can get away with it with some excuses. Countless times people claim that their brother, sister, dad, mum, cousin, pet snake set up an account without their knowledge. When you hear that excuse every few days, it does get hard to keep calm  Some people do it hoping that we don't even check accounts. Some sites out there don't really care about multiple accounts and these bad users take advantage and earn alot and end up crippling the site. Any serious site will stop bad users leaching them dry.

The site I tried to cheat caught on either from the start, or caught on very quickly. The only site I ever cheated with was swagbucks. Some sites deserve to be cheated lol. But I prefer to just do things properly these days.

You did that? :o That doesn't sound like you... I have to admit that I've been tempted before, but I've never done it.

I've seen you around enough to know that you try to do a good job. I'm glad you joined the good side, ha ha.

Cheating is never good, sooner or later people are caught in lie. Personally I prefer play fair game, I don't need to cheat to win more because I know I will lose all.
I think must of the sites have ways to discover cheaters and people who have multiple accounts, I just think it doesn't worth the risk.

To have the mentality of a cheater is to have the mentality of a loser. Cheaters never win. Even if a cheater thinks he or she has won they actually lost because they cheated.

Well, people who make a habit of such things, don't tend to see it that way. As long as they got paid, they think they won. In some cases, they can cheat others out of a lot of money. Same thing with scammers. I just don't know how those scammers sleep at night, especially since they usually prey on people who are the least able to afford losing any money. :(

Lol, you say that like I was ever on the dark side. I do most things on the up and up, but when you are desperate for money, cheating an online GPT website that is really difficult to earn money with doesn't seem like it is morally compromised lol. Once they stopped the loophole that I was 'abusing' the site was no longer worth working on.

Since it was Swagbucks, should it really be counted as cheating? Lol, I do not like that site and it is hard to earn anything on there for me. Many people rave about it, but I just do not see the draw. I am sure a lot of people find loopholes in these sites to make more money from them.

I have yet to find a system to cheat any site including forum sites. I spend lot of time on forums but never cheated any site in my long stay on different sites so far. I see no future of a cheater whether offline or online.

As they said honesty is the best policy and in this world if you are honest and true to yourselves and to the things that you are doing then you can face other people with no guilt in your mind and heart. I will rather work in a honest way rather than cheat because I always want to have that peace of mind in my life.

Nah, just giving you a hard time.

Yeah, some of them can really try your patience, especially when you really need the money. I have literally LOL at what some of them pay. I had to laugh to keep from crying.
