Is most of your content original?

Postby thisnthat » 07 Apr 2016, 14:26

I see so many sites that simply re-use stuff that is posted elsewhere. I get that re-using and recycling is all the rage, but in this case, not so much.

Do you do lots of "round up" type posts that just contain a collection of stuff that's been posted by others, or is most of your stuff truly original content?

I tend to write what is on the top of my head. I stick to things on which either I have an opinion on or I know something about it based on experience and education.

There is a product called "round up" that is used to exterminate or prevent weeds and grasses from sprouting up. "Rounding up" from various posts and re-using them elsewhere prevents new ideas from sprouting. ;)

I tend to do the same. If an idea strikes me that's what I want to write about.

Ha! That's a good one. I never thought about that kind of Round Up, but it's true.

Clever. :D

I don't re-write any of my contents. And many of the sites do not even accept the replicated contents. I feel it is better to write a new one rather than digging with same old story.

I'll like to believe that it's not strange to most site owners when it comes to re-using or rewriting already existing contents on the internet. It's always a collection of original and recycled contents in most sites I think.

I would say that most - if not all - of my stuff is original. Sometimes I may be strapped for what to post about or where to go next. But if I look for ideas, I form original content around it based upon how I would word things and my own experiences.

As I am always writing about my personal life and thoughts, so they are all original. Unless when I am sharing some good sites or quotes from others, then I might reference to the sites, but still write in my own words after reading.

I didn't know there's such product called "round up". Thanks for sharing this! ;)

Yes. All my stuffs are all original. I always make sure that all the contents are original. It is unethical to post some which are not your own works.

For everything we do either offline or online as far as writing is concerned has its own consequence, either good or bad. But there is nothing worth rewarding, worth doing by writing an original work. Originality speaks authority. It reveals how the person is well-prepared, how confident in rehearsing the topic or idea he has produced and made it to the public and to the Internet as well.

Originality creates identity, integrity and a responsibility.

There is no topic in the world which could be put under original category apart from one's own experiences. Even if you write about a travel destination the places and names will be same but the way you describe it will be different.

I think the content I use to post is original as it's written with my own words and in my manner. Surely, the themes are not always original, and not only in my case, but for all bloggers, because if I write about apples, surely other 1000 blogger have written also in the past or in the same moment with me about apples. The originality of content is given by our writing style, this is my opinion.

The idea may not be my original but there is always a way to write the content and make it your own. Some sites I write for can detect right away if you are submitting a re-hash content.

It is called curated content, and yes you can do it if you use only a short rich snippets.
Storify is quite good for this, they have a very nice tools, but you can also curated in a simple blog.

Indeed, but in this case, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about stuff that other people are okay with sharing. For example, they want you to share their stuff on Pinterest, they allow you to use their images, etc. They want the exposure.

So, some blogs will gather up a bunch of these and just post a collection of them. I guess it's okay to do that on occasion, but I see some sites that seem to offer nothing else. I think it's better to create your own content than to "borrow" other people's all the time, even if you have permission.

Yes that's how it goes sometimes you could be writing about a thing similar to what has been covered elsewhere. You must have to put it in your own light and let the article be an entirely fresh one but still retaining the gist.
