Promoting a niche website

Postby swalia » 09 Apr 2016, 10:20

I recently launched my astrology and tarot reading website 'astrokrsna'. I post articles related to astrology and allied sciences as well as offer horoscope reading & tarot reading services there. Can you suggest some effective ways of marketing the site? For now, I am promoting it only through social media.

You might start by adding a link to your profile here (free) or using a signature (100 FC for 6 Mo). Then take similar actions every place you are active.

Niche sites are always a little more difficult to promote. I would:
- Join related astrology /tarot / horoscope forums. Add you signature and promote your articles where you can.
- Reddit has https://www.reddit.com/r/astrology/ & https://www.reddit.com/r/tarot & https://www.reddit.com/r/horoscopes/ which are 3 subreddits you might wish to be active in.
- Large general forums might have a section of people interested in Astrology/Tarot etc. You would need to seek these out.
- Get in touch with owners of other blogs in the niche and offer to guest blog.
- See if you can get a column in a local newspaper... You could then add your blog in the bio section.

Well now, congratulations to you on your blog! The best way I found is to start finding other blogs in the same niche as yours, and make your visit by reading and commenting. If you find something on other blogs that sounds interesting, link it in your own post to establish a relationship with other bloggers, and also your own credibility. Keep at this and also promote on different social media websites that you are on.

Reddit is not a bad suggestion. I would try something like 9gag where a lot of people can see it. Just dont make it look spamy, there are already people doing that :(
You can also make a youtube video teaching people how to read tarot or something like that. "How to" videos are good for promotion.

Promoting a website is not an easy job, but if you are strong-willed you are going to get there. Try to share you website with your friends to start. Good Lucky!

Good luck with your site swalia, good to see that you have had some helpful suggestions already.

You would be welcome to promote your services in our Other Member Ads section, or to offer them in exchange for ForumCoin in our ForumCoin Exchanges forum.

You could also plug a link to it and perhaps win some ForumCoin into the bargain in our Link & Video Plugs - Win ForumCoin section.

Good luck with it, I hope it goes very well for you.

Great suggestions, sam.. I don't have much to add to this.. but I just wanted to say that I have a different feeling when it comes to promoting niche sites. I think it's easier to promote niche sites than broad ones. At least you can find a group of people in forums or social media groups to promote it, but promoting broad sites is a great ordeal, where you will have to promote each article separately!

I guess this depends. There are some niche sites that are more difficult to promote simply because there are a lot of people doing the same things as you do or you don't have much audience in the Internet. I think finding guest blog opportunities especially on reputable blogs on the same niche will greatly help.

Don't forget about facebook and the traffic that you can drive to your niche site through the groups. Those groups can be a goldmine because they are filled with people who are all interested in one topic, which would be your niche site.

That's good advice. I would also say Pinterest or something maybe. When you can find people directly involved in your topic, I think it makes sense. You could make a Blogjob blog as well and not only get paid for it but also use it to promote your main site.

Yep, Pinterest is another great idea for being able to target a lot of people who are of a specific niche interest for your website. It saves you having to trawl the website trying to find a whole load of scattered people who may or may not be interested. I have never worked with blogjob so I am not sure how it works.
