I prefer that way to establish the relationship too. I used to do that with my personal blog. Perhaps for making money purpose, I'd have to learn more about link building, and sharing the posts in networking sites as well.

Same here. There was a time I really spent a lot of time promoting my blog but that didn't lead me anywhere. Maybe I was doing it wrong or I am doing it at the same time as I am working on my freelance writing - who knows!
