Website blocked in India, Asia

Postby niche » 16 May 2016, 03:23

I am trying to access a website themarketplaceuk in India, the website cannot be reached. For google chrome getting the following message

This site can’t be reached
themarketplaceuk.com’s server DNS address could not be found.
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

In UK, the website can be accessed without any problem at all. What is the reason why the website is blocked in Asia?

This reminds me that Facebook and Google are banned in China. When we were in Beijing last year, it didn't occur to me until I could not access Facebook and Google. It was sad because my communication at home is via Facebook only.

The website is themarketplaceuk.com, accessible in UK, USA, only in India and some countries it has been blocked. Is it is a hosting problem or has the domain been blocked by government officials?

That is odd that the website has been blocked, or maybe it isn't offer services in Asia. I wouldn't know why a website is blocked, and the only reason I can think off is that it runs illegal stuffs such as child pornography or human trafficking, or something of the sorts.

@niche, Hello, you can try using a VPN to access the site, it won't always work, but may help you to access the site. But be aware that some sites forbid use of VPN for registration, be sure to check out their Terms and Conditions before going this way. Some good VPN services are Avira Phantom VPN ( 500MB Free, 1GB Free after registration for free Avira Account ) and Windscribe ( 10GB Free VPN for the current moment, not sure if it has changed ).

Yes this is the good way for knowing if site is not opening only for us or all over the world.

Just try in it. And if it only for you than it may be ban for Asia or country. But there are ways for opening site even if they are blocked.

Whats the site's domain name? I have found a recurring pattern pointing to websites being blocked in this region. It has to do phishing since I have seen many microtasks which state that they are not open to members of some Asian counties. It could also be a server error.

I able to open a specific error like that adjusting my setting to OPEN DNS or public DNS. I am not sure with this one. Some also can open this one using VPN because mostly the address is from UK and US.
