For any website, some amount of link building will be required to get visitors from search engines. What is the preferred method of SEO firms to get backlinks for their websites, do they use social media marketing, or do they purchase backlinks from other websites. SEO Firms are not too free with information on how they do their job, otherwise people would do it themselves for free.

Typically from the ones I have seen, they utilise bots to signup to forums or comment on blogs and either place the links in the signature or website field or just blatantly spam. This is typically what you get from these SEO experts unless you pay loads of money.

That sounds more like SEO scammers, not experts and I agree, that's what most people find.

What about people claiming to provide PA 30-80, PR7-9 quality backlinks? Do they use the bots as well?
What about experts? What do they do? Any ideas if you don't know the exact techniques?

Build a website or blog to post your articles on with strong keywords that are not frequently used, then submit the page to Social Monkee. Keep doing it for a week and if you pick the right keywords you will get noticed.

Social monkee appears to be a paid service. Is there any free service available. I use a number of text link ad networks and advertisers pay for high DA link. Now PR is no longer available.

It was free when I signed up a few years ago, but even now I think it's only $7. I don't worry about backlinks anymore, so I lost track.

This infographic was only to show how link building is structured nowadays. I never claimed that this is the ultimate formula to rank websites nor have I said you should believe it.

On a side note, BHW is the best SEO forum on the web and this is a fact.

That is your opinion, but mine is using Black Hat techniques is the fastest way to get your site ignored or even penalized by Google.

The forum's name is just a brand as they started back when black hat was pretty much everything people knew regarding SEO. They cover all kinds of SEO techniques be it white, grey or black hat.

Not trying to promote anything here tho, just pointing the facts.

There are books written about that topic and paid courses galore, so the most I can say to elaborate, is to look for the Low Hanging Fruit.
