Ad position vs income generation

Postby Decentlady » 18 Jun 2016, 11:41

In your opinion which ad positions generate the most clicks? The ones on the side bar, middle of text, at the top or bottom of the post or the obscuring-the-texts ones (I personally think its the last one but I would never employ it).

This is something that I have never been able to figure out, and I have never had much success. I have moved my ads around plenty, but was not able to come up with any definitive date about what definitely works and what doesn't. I think your blog layout has something to do with it though, and that is different with each blog.

The top ad and the middle ad generates most clicks for PPC advertising, for other advertising it does not matter much

I think every website and audience are going to have different results and the only way to discover what works is by testing everything you can think of.

So basically it's a trial and error issue. Which ones do you find yourself clicking the most?

I would say the right in your face front and center (as long as they are interesting). That's why I pay for a signature here on Forum Coin.

Yeah, I think it is trial and error. I've learned that I can't really go by my personal preferences (or lack thereof). I hate ads that cover the text. I will just leave and would never click on one. Others do click them though, obviously, or they wouldn't still be in use.

Middle of the text and page header, at least from my experience.

If they are using Adsense you should report them for that. Just click the little exclamation mark near the Ad and report them. After 30 ~ 50 reports Google will make a manual review and should ban that AdSense account as this practice is entirely against their TOS. :)

Cheers.

I don't think one can determine this thing. Personally I prefer ads on side bar and one banner on top bar.

Well there are articles about the best place to place them, in order to generate the most income. But from some of the comments on the articles, it seems that the tips aren't very effective.
