Guest posting charges

Postby Decentlady » 30 Jun 2016, 01:02

Has anyone of you ever done guest posting? If yes, how much do you charge? Webmasters, what and how much do you pay your guest writers? An exact figure/ per word would highly appreciated.

I did do some guest tutorial videos and charged $75 each for 5 of them. They are still being viewed many years later (since 2010).

I did one as translator that took me 6 hours for $15. As for guest blogging is concerned I was paid by fellow blogger for my 10 posts despite my reluctance. On another site I was paid nothing for my 100+ posts because the initiator said there was a dispute with advertising company.

@decentlady To maximize revenues usually charge only $5 for guest post for ad networks and they take 50% as their marketing fee. Do not pay bloggers for posting on the blog , as the blog makes very little money.
@suny how much were you paid for 10 posts by the fellow blogger, do you know anyone who will be interested

I have never tried as guest writer for someone else blog. But I have requested one friend to write for my blog. But I don't remember how much I paid him.

Are you saying $5 per article? Does article length matter? How long should be a $5 article in your opinion?

Get less than $5 per article . Depends on the ad network and relationship, there is a lot of competition

Long ago, an articles with 300 words with 3 keywords, usually valued at $10 dollars for a guess post. It depends though, some might need fast money and will only ask for $5 dollars per 300 words. It also depends on the websites with high page rank too, as they tend to pay more but very picky.

It depends on the blog - some even guest post for free! I tried pitching in a website as a guest writer and the "rate" was $25 but the owner can be really picky. Other sites are a lot easier to pitch in for a guest post but they don't pay the guest poster. Just free advertising for your website.

I would say if your article is a pitch, it's not a guest post but a free advertisement.

Forum Posts: Typical rate I see is $0.08 to $0.2 per post / thread.
Blog Articles: I think the iWriter pricing is pretty accurate: $5 -$10 for a 500 word article. Then again, gaining specialist knowledge will allow you to earn more e.g. if you know a lot about web hosting or law you could earn many many times that per article.

5 to 10$ for an article is good. I guess I tried in iWriter in past, but I didn't get any article for writing. So now I am no more active.

Iwriter is about selling and buying articles and not really about guest blooging. I believe the prices may vary if I were to guest post on your personal blog @Sam. Or would there be no difference?

iWriter is for blog articles/ posts as well. Most guest blogging is done for free.... (for the backlink/ recognition etc.). If, as a blog owner, I wanted articles for my blog I'd try iWrtier or pay someone at roughly that price.

Thanks @Sam I hadn't noticed the blog writing part on iwriter at all. May be because I never looked it from those needing the articles side, nevertheless if it does offer than its good. That price for guest posting would be good and fair. Thanks.

I'd say $10 (on the low end) is fair for a short piece. Most people want at least 350+ words though, as far as I can tell. I'd say between $10-15 for that, and if it requires a lot of extra time/research/images/sources raise the price. They are going to make money from your work, so they should be willing to pay for your efforts.

The truth is, they MAY make money from your work. There is no guarantee they will.

Fair enough, but if they don't think they will, they are probably going to reject it. Most people who pay for work will tell you what they want. They have an idea for that content, and they intend to make money with it. If you do everything right, you've met your end of the bargain. After that, it's on them.
