Top 3 Free Domain Hosting Sites 2016

Postby sherryinutah » 15 Jul 2016, 07:24

First of all, let's discuss the pros and cons of using free web hosting sites. It's always nice to use the "free" stuff; especially, when we're in the learning phase.

Pros - It's Free!

Cons - Some of these sites give you a tiny amount of hosting space. You might also have to tolerate "advertising" on your site.

1- Sitebuilder.com - 1000's of templates, free domain for life and an opportunity to create a free website.
2- Websitebuilder.com - Highly recommended if you are creating a new site from scratch.
3- Siteblog.com - Very easy to use if you want to create a free blog.

Any other's that you'd recommend?

What are the pros and cons of the sites you're recommending?

Well it's not really worth it if you have to tolerate advertising on the site, but I guess if you want to try stuff out it's a good option. I recommend WordPress for anything blog-related.

I wouldn't spend my time developing for a free website, since all your hard work could be flushed down the toilet with no notice or recourse. I would rather invest a dollar a month or so, to have something I could depend on.

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

Well you don't get a free domain there, you can only use their subdomain for free. And if you are to use a free platform, why not use blogspot or wordpress.com?

I have used a sub-domain from them for many years and I don't think it makes a hill of beans worth of difference, except it saves registration fees. In fact, I think the AngryHosting part is an attention grabber, people wonder what that is all about.

Almost every website or page I create has the purpose of making me money and both WordPress.com and Blogger have shut down THOUSANDS of websites for people using them to make money. Sure a lot of them get away with it for a while (maybe even a long while), but for a BUCK it's not worth the risk to me. If whatever I am doing with it is not making at LEAST a buck a month, I would be happy to quit wasting my time on it anyway.

By the way, if you use WordPress.com or BlogSpot.com, you are using a sub-domain anyway, unless you pay extra to get your own domain.

Is that so? Really? They only blocked those sites because they were making money? I really doubt it, there must have been other rules they might have broken or something. Because they allow users to monetize their blogs.

I appreciate the conversation you're having because I'm seriously wondering if I want to continue with my free blogger blog or if I want to invest in a domain and connect with some web hosting. It seems like a big decision to me; even if it is just a few dollars per month.

I am currently reading a couple of Wordpress books so maybe I can decide when I'm through with those. Thank you, everyone, for sharing your thoughts on this topic.

It's not even a few dollars, it's less than 2. Find a .info domain name on GoDaddy for $3 a year and get a years hosting on NoSupportLinuxHosting for $12 and your total expense is a dollar and a quarter a month.

I guess they will do advertise after we put up our site. Honestly I don't want this thing.
