Stats for a New Forum

Postby shamzblueworld » 12 Aug 2016, 02:56

How are these stats for a fairly new forum? This is a screenshot from the analytics page.

What do you think?
If you are an experienced forum owner and know the field of analytics and adsense/revenue
How would you rate these stats from 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest?
Would really appreciate your input.
Thank you

For a new forum, I'd be far more concerned with the number of new members, the retention of those members and how active they are.

A rating? For a new forum? 6-7/10. I guess the question I'd ask is whether the traffic has the ability to "grow"... e.g. Google/ Facebook rather than traffic from sites like fp.

What I would be most impressed with is the Bounce Rate (how long visitors stay), which is amazing.

As a rule of thumb, a bounce rate in the range of 26 to 40 percent is excellent. 41 to 55 percent is roughly average. 56 to 70 percent is higher than average, but may not be cause for alarm depending on the website. -

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

My 90+% traffic is from google and facebook. About 70-75% from facebook actually, from the various relevant study groups.
And about new members, is 45% returning visitors too low? What do you think is the optimal number here?

Thank you, What about the other numbers? What do you think about them?

I think these statistics are quite encouraging. From the bounce rate and rate of returning visitors, I can see that your forum has something very alluring to offer them. Capitalize on that. Encourage what most visitors are coming back for and you can rest assured of a sustained traffic.

They do come, in number too. But I feel their interaction is lacking, how do I motivate them to participate in the forums? Post replies etc. Any tips on that?

I was lost until you explained what 'bounce rate' is.
This forum is clearly an astute educator.

Might I suggest hiding good content until users make a contribution to the site? (either uploading note/ solutions, posting around in the forums or paying a small fee). People get desperate for solutions/ notes.... And considering the number of downloads I'm sure you could encourage some of those people to post.

The suggestion is good, but it has its downfalls as well. As I have encountered before, at first registration was required to download stuff but I got many complaints of other students that it shouldn't be the case like that. It should be open to public, (main reason being registering on a forum is not a single click option) so I had to allow it for the time being.
But I think when we grow, that will be the final case, we will require some contribution to give out solutions.
