Donation plugin?

Postby skysnap » 31 Aug 2016, 06:24

I am looking for a donation plugin or website that can help me put a small form or banner on the site. I know there is patreon and flattr. But for some reason nobody donates form those buttons. And I have removed the images from the website. I want to make sure that such plugins do help me make regular content. With adblockers, it's harder to get revenue from the website these days. And I want to make sure that I do get paid for hardwork being done.

Do you have any idea of donation plugin for blogs? Any site other than patreon and flattr?

I don't think it's the plugin that's the problem. I just don't think many people make donations. I know I never do, but maybe that's just me. I know other people who have buttons, but they don't get much mileage out of them. I never bothered using one for that reason.

Unless you have something really great that people can't get anywhere else, I wouldn't really count on donations.

You can also consider cryptocurrency donation plugins such as DogeCoin or Bitcoin, though they are unstable and you might want to use other methods. But for confidentiality those are top-tier as the donator is very hard to be tracked down, privacy might be a reason people are holding back to donate.

Yes but the paypal rules for India suggest that I can't use "donate" and "personal payment" words in any transaction. So I can't use the paypal with those words in button and form. I do however can use patreon, indiegogo and kickstarter where the donation is on the basis of some professional transaction.

@thisnthat, I agree People don't usually donate unless they see super value out of it. But with adblockers earning money is really hard.

I don't mean to discourage you. I'm just being straightforward. Trust me, I know it's hard to earn. I wish you well.

Have you considered something like a "beer money" button or a "tip jar"? Can you do that kind of stuff?

I understand and your observation is spot on. I never got flattr working on my site. So I know people don't care for content creators online. One has to be super lucky to get donation too. I am thinking of creating ebooks to sale to cover up the hosting costs. Hopefully that works out for me.

skysnap perhaps you could start another topic asking for revenue ideas, including the URL of your website and our members might have other suggestions that will work for your particular site.

If you have visitors to your site who are members of ForumCoin, you could ask for ForumCoin donations. We even have a donation button, shown below, which you could link to your donation URL.

That looks like a good idea. Is it possible to use this on my website? I mean if anyone wants to donate do they have to sign up here or they can do so from the paypal itself? Thanks for the option.

skysnap, yes you can use it on your website.

Yes they would have to be a member of ForumCoin and have some ForumCoin to donate. Perhaps in the future we will be able to do it the way you are suggesting, but not at the moment.

I'm not seeing an image. It is meant to be a banner, I believe. This is another good idea for using Forum Coin.

Does your site get much traffic, skysnap? Have you tried other methods of earning? Do you promote?

I get 700 visitors a day on the blog. It has decent content hits every day. I have used Google adsense and viglink. I do promote the site on forums and other blogs. So apart from that didn't tried any other method. That's why thinking of donation plugins.

Nice. I'd give social media a try for promotion. As much as I hate it, it seems to be the only answer these days.

Have you looked into Amazon affiliates? I have heard that some people do rather well with it.

I tried amazon affiliates but not much success. I am guessing I'd need different micro nice topic in order for me to make money through that. I also tried Google adsense support fund link. but nobody has donated through that either. So pretty much stuck with current donation and funding options.
