How to deal with non paying bidder for domain name

Postby niche » 14 Oct 2016, 01:34

A bidder had bid for a fairly expensive domain name on a forum, and now he is not responding properly , or paying for the domain name, claiming that he or she does not have a paypal account. If he was not interested in making payment , why did he bid for the domain name, what do you think is the reason for this behavior , wasting the sellers time? Have you faced a similar problem with a non paying bidder ?

That's why you should always use an Escrow service and it's not unique to domain names. Who knows why people do what they do? The Escrow I used when I sold a domain name for $1,500 was free for me, the buyer paid all the fees.

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it - move on and get another sale. Some auction sites allow you to restrict the bidding to users with a certain reputation, i.e. they have to have held an account for a certain length of time, and maybe possess a verified PayPal account, and done a certain number of transactions in the last month.

Sadly people will bid to see how much they can get away with paying or not. I have seen many bids that are offered and then accepted which don't convert into sales as some just keep negotiating.

That's one reason why I think flipping sites isn't that profitable. With more extensions available, people are less needy.

It doesn't matter how many more extensions they make available, the .com is still going to be the highest valued.

The best thing to do is contact an administrator on the forum. A lot of communities have policies whereby making a public bid binds you to purchasing should you win. Perhaps they may contact the member or ban them?

I actually purchased a site whereby a bidder pulled out. I got it for far less than the final bid I made because the price had been pushed higher by the only other serious bidder.

The forum allows the winning bidder 7 days to pay for the winning bid. If the winning bidder does not pay for the item, should the seller restart the auction again?

If they still want to sell it, why wouldn't they try again?

The best alternative is to avoid such a situation arising by contacting bidders who have placed a milestone on their bid with the company or website concerned. Otherwise, running after an individual bidder is an uphill task. Then again you can perform a deep internet search and look for their details with a view to making life hard for them if they don't pay.

After putting up the domain for sale again, it appears that another associate of the first bidder made the winning bid and did not pay. The first non paying bidder was Jay-EBn and the second non paying bidder was Jayseen. It appears that NTRO (the indian equivalent of NSA) are blocking the payment because top officials have falsely claimed that their lazy fraud girlfriends own my domain names to get their girlfriends indian intelligence jobs with a monthly salary of $300 or more each, though these girlfriends are least interested in paying the market price for the domain names
