Other Disclaimers

Postby thisnthat » 17 Oct 2016, 18:22

I know that there is a thread about disclaimers, but it seems to be .. in other territory. It made me curious though about things like legal and medical disclaimers. Also, you may be required to post affiliate disclaimers and such.

Are you careful about following the rules when it comes to such things?

Do you post disclaimers about content not being legal or medical advice, if applicable? Do you indicate referral and affiliate links?

You actually have to post a disclaimer for some programs, and it's only right to tell people if the links on the site are third party ones.

On spiritual sites they have disclaimers that reading are for entertainment purposes only, and is not a substitute for medical advice. People do need to read them, but often they don't or if they do, they don't fully understand what they mean.

I feel that if you post any content relating to medical issues that it is important to post a disclaimer. Not everyone who reads such content, will understand that the content may be an opinion rather than a medical fact, also there are lots of people who when they read medical content online they consider it to be professional medical advice. To protect those types of people, I feel that it is particularly important to advise them to seek the opinion of a qualified medical professional, if they have any health concerns.

Yes agreed. Secondly I think it is kinda important in legal terms also. I think disclaimer helps you in avoiding any legal claims or infringements. So if you do not own the information or the content, its best to post the disclaimer.
