Hi Friends,

I have started to learn HTML via Codeacadamy, I have not understand what is href attribute, can any body explain me about its importance and how to use it?

It can't really be explained any simpler. It is one of the most basic html attributes.

You use href attribute when you want to link to a certain website. Its used for making website links, Ksridharprasad.

In HTML a link is denoted by an Anchor tag like <html><A>Hindustan</A></html>. Here, <A></A> is an anchor tag and the text 'Hindustan' is anchor text. Now, If you link the text like this <A href=http://india.gov.in>Hindustan</A> then href is said to be an attribute of Anchor tag which points to the link and tells the hyperlink or anchor text about where to go or to link to which page after click.
