Name servers changing at namecheap

Postby niche » 03 Dec 2016, 02:01

For a domain at namecheap, it appears that hackers are changing the name servers repeatedly, because the website has controversial content. Does anyone know how to trace the hackers changing nameservers.

How can hackers change nameservers? By accessing your namecheap account? Try to secure the account at namecheap, enable two way login system which requires a code sent to your mobile to login to the account.
Contact namecheap too.

There is a space before the name servers after some time, it appears that the browser is being hacked to make changes without my knowledge, making the domain name inaccessible

I don't think you will be able to trace hackers... maybe try to contact namecheap and ask from which ip your account is being logged in for that change?

Is it really possible? Can you change nameservers of a domain from the browser? Really? I don't think its possible. It can only happen via domain name control panel.

Which is your domain? I think you may need to discuss this with professional. Because hackers don't get anything by changing the nameserver. They can benefit if they get custom site hosted.

niche is it your domain or someone elses? If someone else owns the domain, are you helping them with this issue? What has been done so far to deal with it?

I'm with namecheap and while there are many hackers around, but they can only change your nameservers if they have access to your domain control panel.

You can set up two factor authentication at Namecheap which should help give your Namecheap account and domain names much stronger security protection. I have it set up on Namecheap and it means that only someone with my password and access to my mobile phone can access my account.
